Title: Lake Charlevoix
Post by: robhj on August 21, 2011, 03:43:09 PM
Hey guys, I'll be staying on Lake Charlevoix next week near East Jordan and was hoping to chase some smallies. I've never fished the lake before but have heard some good things. Obviously it can be somewhat tougher this year but was planning on fishing topwater early & late & then fishing some deeper running cranks tubes on some of the deeper breaks. I believe the place we're staying at is on the arm of the lake that extends southeast of the main lake. Any suggestions on where I should start & lures to try. Thanks for any help.

Weeds and sand drops down there. I'd try just what you suggest to start with. You're going to catch some pike too.

Don't neglect checking the channel. That first couple hundred yards in can be very good at times.

Years ago I caught a few smallies on the east side of the bridge between the harbor lake and Lake Charlevoix.  If you want to run the lake I found a little structure in semi shallow water on the southeast part of the main lake.  Some pilings and wood on the bottom.
