Fish Story: Mich. smallmouth bass were too small to catch...but angler got caught
July 26, 2011
Smallmouth bass
(CBS/AP) BELLEVILLE, Mich. - Here's one fish story where size matters.
First the fish got caught, in Michigan's Belleville Lake, and then the fisherman.
Conservation officer Lacelle Rabon says he was recently patrolling the lake in southeastern Michigan when he came across a fisherman with two smallmouth bass, who told the officer he measured them with his hand, then doubled the length.
Rabon pulled out a tape measure - uh, oh - and found the fish were less than 14 inches long, the minimum size to keep them.
But that wasn't the angler's only problem. A computer check found the man was already wanted on a warrant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
And so ends today's fish story with a fisherman on the hook.
