Title: Where to pick for Smallmouth Trip Up North in August?
Post by: DDBethke on July 21, 2011, 07:52:48 PM
Hey all,

Need some advice, My Brother, Dad and I are going on a fishing trip up North in 2 weeks...

Where should we go? I understand if you don't want to publicize a lake (so just DM me and I'll keep it on the down low ;-)

So far I'm thinking about Sutton's Bay, however I don't want to get in a post spawn funk :-\'

Any tips appreciated!
Duane

I was on Hubbard last week and had an awesome time. Find the logs and you find the Smallies!!

Hubbard was good last time I was there too though it was earlier than this. Lots of keepers and a few nice ones. Charlevoix might be another possibility. When I was there in June, that was the most bass I've ever seen on beds at one time in my life! If there aren't any shallow in the main lake, there are usually shallower bass in the South arm. Someone reported they were still catching them shallow last week though.

Never made it to Suttons Bay but that could be pretty good from everything I've ever heard.

Did you go yet Duane? I'm thinking of taking a trip up there somewhere too. I'd like to try somewhere a little different such a Brevort or Manistique. Just wondering what you found going on up that way.
