Just wondering if I am the only one who can't sleep before a TX. If I am LUCKY I usually get 1 or 2 hours, no matter if I have everything ready to go or not.
Usually around 5- 6 hours, depends on if I am traveling or its local. I usually plan ahead but take my time, making sure my gear is just right and hit the bed about 11 pm. I have tried to go to bed early but just lie there thinking about the next day's events and get less sleep, so I try and make myself a little bit more tired and get a good sleep in.
No wonder as you say ( I s%&k at fishing) you need to keep your eyes open to see your line move. I am the same also I don't get much sleep before a tx. To much time trying to figure out the secret, not to fishing but how to get to sleep
I have talked to guys who get 0 sleep the night before a T. Others who get 10 hours. I guess it depends.
When i first started fishing tournaments a couple years ago, i got no sleep. The butterflies kept me up all night. Now i can usually squeeze a couple hours. I would say on average, i can get 4 hours sleep. A little more if Eric Smith is crashing over and his girlfriend has to call and wake us up.
I am good to go either way. once the adrenaline kicks in its all good.
PB himself :-\'
There is no middle ground shackin at PBs. Either no sleep due to unexpected trips in the middle of the night, or too much sleep due to alarm malfunctions. Always a good time though ands definitely an adventure.

3 maybe 4 hours max. always have boat & gear ready nite before, at least 90% of the time. i must put gear that morning into boat, but ready & waiting. i set the alarm just in case, but always up at least hour before hand - just like clock work. gitters, butterflies, call it what you will, but once i'm up, many things start racing thru your mind & just can't roll over & fall back to sleep. been doing this for many years. you'd think we'd get over this......NOT!!!!
The last couple of years I have learned to relax a little bit the night before a tournament and get about 4 hours of sleep. Before that I was lucky to get 2 hours, I just couldn't stop thinking about how things might unfold the next day.
