whats the secret to catch fish on the grand been trying to figure it out for years

Practice and perseverance!  It took me a couple years to figure them too.  I will tell you it in the best place in west Michigan to flip and pitch.  I think you can always catch fish there flippin and pitchin.  You will be surprised at far those fish will get up into that grass and cover.  Throwing a frog can also be effective and you can find 1000 places to do that.  I think you will get more bites in the river areas but the bayous hold bigger fish.  If you aren't comfortable fishing the river then don't.  You can fish the bayous like little lakes and the same things will work there as anywhere else.  Fish your strengths and you will do fine.
