I have been reading the forum for a while and am finally getting my first post in!!! Anyways I was wondering if anyone has been to Lake Ovid. I've been there a few times and have had some luck fishing a frog on the the mats around the island north of the ramp.
I stopped by there last evening since I was working in East Lansing. They have changed the park since I've been there a couple years ago and shore fishing is very limited now. Sorry I don't have much to report, I wasn't able to fish much. In the past I've caught some fish in the northwest corner of the lake and heading south along that shore.
Lake Ovid is a favorite of this board's poobah, Dan Kimmel, and mine,as well. There is quite a bit of info if you do a search. Also, there is an article posted here; http://www.greatlakesbass.com/articles/mgtastesouth.html.
Thanks that should help. Going tomorrow morning and will have some pics up if we can get um to bite when its 95 out lol
couple dinks on stick worm and soft plastic jerkbait. Fished the slop for at least 4 hours with one tinny bite. Conditions were perfect with many gills and minnows shallow and in slop but bass weren't anywhere. Also fished around the fishing dock north of the ramp gills were schooling but still no fish to be seen or caught.
Sounds like a typical day on Ovid! ;D
Must be too early in the season plus the hot weather. Are you fishing the frog only tourney August 13?
