would like to hear some chatter about fizzing bass - esp smb - wondered if side or gullet fizzing is more popular - or if it is routinely done out your way - I know there is some deep water out there in your parts - how do youkeep your smallies that show signe of barotrauma alive till weigh in....??
Thanks in advance...!!

Can't remember where I saw it but there was a study done evaluating the two different techniques and the conclusion was that the side approach was more reliable and less dangerous to the fish.
hanks - if you can remember if that was in a Journal or website article - maybe I could track it down - Thanks for the info!!

The study was done in Canada and yes there is an online article that you can search for. The one I read was on BassFan that showed results that both methods work, but side fizzing had the best results.
You should certainly watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEeQrsHcwf8&feature=player_embedded
I've had it on my teardropbass.com blog.
Thanks All!!! excellent resources!!!!

I have never done it nor had reason to try it.
Here is a very scientific article I found that gives some stats on fizzing, how to do it, and other alternate deep-water release techniques.

As bass anglers, we all have the duty to be aware of the best practices in holding our great fish in livewells during tounaments. Thanks to everyone who responded!!
