+1 i had a blast too thanks everyone
Dan, from myself and my nephew alias Rock Bass Johnson, we thank you and everyone for a well put together event. I had to leave early. Not use to getting up that time of morning.....Peace
Another great time. Dartag put us on em big time. We caught at least 50 keepers. Also I won a rod in the free drawing afterword, WOOOHoooo.
Great time and great company. Dan and I caught fish pretty much all day. ;D Lost a few and knocked at least one off with the net! Sorry Thanks to all the members, the cook (Mike) and DK for a day to remember.
Once again, a great event. Thanks Dan!
Had great time. The cookout afterwards was a blast. Thanks again Dan!
Like all have said THANKS for all the work. Also thanks to Mike for cooking great burgers and dogs.. Also thanks for not having it today. I bet it is nasty out there today.
apparently DK had an in with mothernature, picking Saturday instead of today, cookout would've been alittle messy had we been able to even get the grilles lit. Speaking grilles, thanks to Mike S for his handling of the chef's duties and to ( ? ) who made like the calvary and ran off to secure plates and more cheese...make a note more cheese next tournament. Fishing was disappointing for Cheetam and myself, though I felt I should've won the most outrageous catch with hooking that steelhead.
The afterglow party was nice and to Bob O who spared no expense on the brewskies.
Been studying the DVD I won, ( still think the fix was in, thanks dan ) its all over for next year...no secrets on st clair.

My nephew had a great time. He caught his biggest smallmouth and a decent size sheep head. My sister-in-law caught her first st. Clair smallies on her ancient yellow caterpillar lure. Andrew was excited about his new baitcaster rod and I've got a reel for him. I had him use a Grandt rod all day to make the connection with the purpose of the tournament. Laura is going to use the gift basket at her cabin up north.
Thanks to everyone for putting this together and allowing me to really treat them to the experience of LSC and the GLB community. Thanks Dan!
Thanks to mother nature as well, that was a pleasant surprise.
Great people, great fishing, great food after. What else is there....can't wait till the fall tx. Thanks Dan.

You are all very welcome. I was just kidding about that thing about if it gets any bigger I quit by the way. Cy set me straight anyway. Mikesmiph did an excellent job running the kitchen again! BIG THANKS MIKE!!
I will have a complete list of all the sponsor advertisers and people who donated more great stuff than ever before! It was overwhelming! I have to send all of them a HUGE thanks!
Thanks to all of you for showing up on a day that looked like it might go south. That was really nice. 59 entries with 28 boats. That is the biggest one yet! I think MadWags would be very happy with all of us.
Don't know about you but I was tuckered out yesterday and only got some minimal client work done so I'm behind on getting the results wrote up and done. Had more client work today and packing to go on the road for work the next two days so I may not have a full report with pictures (thanks very much to my new 'official' photographer - Dan!) until later Thursday. I've got to get up at 3:30am this morning! Yikes!
I don't remember everyone who helped or offered to help but thanks for doing so - I know it was a bunch of you! I thought it was the nicest, calmest, most friendly event yet and of course a great weigh in too!
Congratulations to Skip Johnson and LAPORTE for their big win! Congrats to BrianB for unseating bassfan586 as the Big Ugly champion. Brian, you were a big help too as always so I'm glad you won something (though it's pretty funny it was the Big Ugly prize ;D ).
River Rat, I sure hope you enjoy that awesome Grandt Stealth Rod you won!! (Can I borrow it one day? ;D )
I hope you can all be patient a couple days more and think about how much fun some of us are going to have this fall on Skegemog!!
I had a great time and so did everyone I talked to! Thanks Dan for doing a great job on the tournament and thanks Mike for all the hard work on the grills!!! Thanks to everyone for coming and bring food, drink and friendship. GLB members are the best and events like this really highlight that fact for me. I can't wait until next year.

I forgot, as bob o pointed out, there is also an unofficial event before that on Lake Ovid in August - the frogs only event. bob o is the big chief for that one and we aren't limiting it to GLBass members only - though I hope people who fish won't might joining to have more fun with us.
I almost signed up 3 members that morning when a bass boat pulled up to me and asked if they could get in! They didn't have a Weighmaster board and decided they didn't want to ask me to run back up and get a weigh in form, but they said they wanted to get in on the fun in the future. I like that.

Or this fall!?!
Thanks for all your kind words everyone. I havent heard of anyone getting sick, so it must have been a success. LOL
Question for Laporte. If you win and you are not there to collect, did it really happen? Kind of like the tree falling in the woods. lol
Thanks Dan for a good job on running the tournament. I'd also like to thank the sponsors for donating all of the prizes to give away. I know we'd all fish this tournament even if there were nothing to win, but winning booty is always better.

Stop putting words in my mouth Kimmel!!! I said next year...aka St Clair. I am looking forward to the Skeg thing in Oct too but St Clair is special.
Sometimes....I don't know why I put up with you. ;D
Because I'm kinda like a big ole Teddy Bear...??
I can't even imagine how much time you put in for this event for us Dan. Thank you very much !!! Thanks also to the generous sponsors. Kudos to Mike Smith for working so hard at the Grills !! I was the one that chased down the missing items. You should have seen the looks on the employees faces when I walked back into the party store for the third time !!!! lol
I headed up Friday morning after getting off work. It was odd going non boater, but boy was the trip up ever nice. Took me less than 3 1/2 hours without the boat and I made it all the way without having to stop for gas. lol You non boaters have to really keep your ducks in a row, don't you. So much as your gear and other stuff you need. Going from boat to boat and hotel and such. I broke off one rod eye, and thought I had lost my camera until Motorcross said he had it the morning of the Open.
I met Motocross "Pikemaster" at Crocker Friday morning. Just happened to get there about the same time as the Dude and TCook. Boy, did the fishing change a lot from the previous week. Yikes I don't think " a lot " really describes it! Temp was up 10 degrees or more. We didn't get a bunch of fish, but I had a great time fishing with Brian. Thanks again !!!
Brian had plans for late afternoon, so we pulled the boat about 3:30 or so. By chance my partner for Saturday, Baybass, Brad was on the water and he came to Crocker to pick me up. I walked out the dock as he approached and asked.. "Are you my man?" lolol And he didn't turn the boat and speed off !!! lol We fished for a couple hours. He headed back to the hotel and I went to visit some friends in town.
Well, we had a tough time on Saturday. Could only muster 14.14. Mostly males. I should have thought more about talking with Eric Smith before the tourney. About how the females were prolly on beds. We should have fished shallower, and probably searched for a little cleaner water than Crocker south. I'm assuming that's what the big weight teams did. Thing is I have no experience on Anchor or the other bays up north. Still, We had a fun time fishing and I made a new friend. Baybass is a super nice guy !!! Thanks again for bringing your boat down Brad.
The eats were great. I wish I had taken more time to get around to talk to some more of the members. Didn't really talk too much fishing after the Open. I did go out with Bassfan586 afterwards and did some channel fishing. That was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be. I wouldn't purposely drive that far to do it, but it's a nice backup. Thanks again Brad for taking me out !!!
I headed back to the hotel after picking up some Famous Dave's. I had put up a post looking for a backseat for Sunday, but didn't get any responses. But you know what, I didn't care. I had spent 75 hours fishing on three trips over the last 2 1/2 weeks. Most of it in cold nasty weather. Caught tons of fish, but was just plum wore out. It's Hell getting older!! lol I welcomed the break and slept in til 10:30 Sunday morning. I did get up to pee at 6:15. I looked out the window and saw guys in the cold rain, getting their boats ready for fishing. I had no desire to join them!
I checked the radar shortly before leaving the hotel. It didn't look good. The drive home wasn't going to be fun. As a matter of fact the weather channel app had a warning about travel and water ponding on the roads and such. Guess not many people saw that. There were two multi-car accidents on 94 within 12 miles of the hotel !!!! Luckily the two cars involved going southbound were at the median and the edge of the road. I made it home just fine. Prolly won't be back to St. Clair til next spring. But I am planning on going to the Fall Open. :) See some of you then !!
