Launched out of crocker at 6:15 am. Headed toward 9 mile. Water was chocolate milk till just past the 400 club then cleared up a bit. Maybe 2-3 visiblilty. Water temp was 50-52 deg. TRied a few spots on the way down. Caught most of my fish in 7-8 fow in front of 9 mile tower on a series 5 strike king in a perch pattern. I would crank it in slow and dig it through the rock piles. Caught a few largies in fords cove on a xcalibur silent square bill in a perch pattern. I tried some soft baits but i like to cover water so I didn't stick with it long. Headed back in a 2pm. Total of 15 mixed bagof smallies and largies. Bigest was 4-2. Also nailed a big carp on a lippless crank. Hooked in the mouth too. I don't think it was a snag. Just getting ready for the open for the big ugly contest.
Nice job Brad.... entry #1 for the fishing reports contest. lolol
Good deal man. Glad to see someone catch some fish. Can't wait to get over there in a couple of weeks.
You are the 'big ugly' Champ!!
I was out on St. Clair as well. I launched at Metro Beach. Lake was muddy. I decided to head up to Selfridge. Water was muddy up there as well. Went over towards New Baltimore and did find some clearer water. Fished a couple of areas which have always been good in the early spring. Water temps in the mid 40's. Got a couple of bites but couldn't get the hooks in them. Finally hooked a good one but lost it at the boat. Visibility of water was still not optimal at about 2 feet maybe 3. Ran back in the canals and caught about 12 Largemouths on a S.W.A.G. football head skirted jig with an Extreme Bass Tackle creature bait in St. Clair craw pattern. The jig was pumpkin green. Also caught some on a KVD spinnerbait in chartreuse sexy shad. All in all a decent day. My best 5 would have gone maybe 15lbs.
BD ;D
I fished all the way ddown to the delphine. WAter was 48 down there. Forgot to add that yesterday
My partner and fished in the chocolate for about 4 hours and landed 24 Smallies. Most were in the 3 pound class. 4 or 5 were in the 4 pound range and 2 were 21" and well in the 5 pound range.
