Title: Atomic wing challenge
Post by: Mike S. on April 22, 2011, 08:38:13 PM
I went to the Quaker Steak restaurant this evening with my family, and my wife's cousin and her husband.  We went to take the atomic hot wing challenge.  If you eat 5 of their atomic wings, you get your name on the wall and a bumper sticker.  Well, as I have found out, it's not really worth the torture you put your body through.

I made the huge mistake of getting the boneless wings, which are giant chicken strips.  I so wish I would have gotten the regular ones with the bones.  One of my strips was bigger than all 5 of his wings together.  They make you sign a waiver before you get your plate.  It tells you not to touch your eyes or nose after you eat.  That crap was so hot that I got the chills and started shaking as I ate it.  Andrew and I looked like 2 babies crying at the table.  Our kids laughed at us, saying things like who's the baby now dad.  The waitresses come to the table every couple of minutes to make sure you are ok.  It sucked so bad.  Hopefully it doesn't hurt as bad on the way out as it did on the way in!

As for the restaurant, it is awesome.  They have a dragster, a Tony Stewart NASCAR car, and several new Harley's and other various bikes hanging from the cieling.  There is even a drive on car lift in the middle of the place with a brand new Berger Camaro SS on it.  There are tables underneath the car!  They let people sit under the car to eat their dinner.  It's awesome!

Hey Mike,  I got a kick out of your post !!!!!  Chances are, it's gonna hurt on the way out too.  Where is this located??  I have eaten at the one that is located close to BPS in Portage Indiana.  Awesome place to eat. I however wouldn't even eat the .atomic  regular wings

There is one in Grand Rapids, on 28th Street, by the air port.  We were going to eat at the one in Portage, when we were on our way home from Louisiana.  We went to BPS, but Quaker Steak was packed.  They had a NASCAR driver there.  And yes, I am starting to feel the wrath right now.  I am not happy with me right now! >:(

i like food, but i will never do any sort of eating challenge. Watched a few people attempt various feats and there's just no way i'd even think about it. there's just no way any part of it can be pleasant!

Now this sounds like something I could really sink my teeth into....haha. If i ever make it out that way i'll be getting myself on that wall...yeah I never really learn from others mistakes...always think it'll be different for me.

Lol.  Best post in a looooong time.  I made the mistake of getting the buffalo wild wings blazing sauce on a chicken wrap once.  Never again.  I was literally afraid to move for 3 days.  There was no comfort in anything I did.  Hats off for trying tho.

It has been a very long, uncomfortable night. :o  Hardly worth the sticker I got.  I think a 12 pack of Charmin double rolls would have been WAAAAY more useful in this case.  But anyhow, here is a pic of my sticker.

You should wear that as an arm band...

The armband is an excellent idea. That way people will know to stay at least 15 feet away from you for the next few days.

Ok, based on what I just read, I am longer interested in getting together for dinner tomorrow night in Muskegon, Mike.  I'm way not tough enough to hang with you.

You know, this is the first full weekend I have had off without using a vacation day, and I have totally abused my body every night of it.  I am still radioactive from the wings, and last night I fell in to the Bud Light and Jagermeister kick.  I can't wait to go back to work!  I think it's way easier on my body.  Hopefully I don't smell as bad tomorrow as I do today! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
