Title: Rate your Bass Season so far.
Post by: h2o on June 17, 2006, 07:24:26 AM
I've had a fantastic C/R season so far. Tons of S.M. 95% C/R on the #3 and #2 Mepps Aglia Plain mostly Rainbow and Silver Color.

Right now I'm FISHED OUT!!! lol

So I think the bass population is mountainous. What do you think so far of the bass? Caught a lot that have been hooked before and they appear to be healing real well.

h2o - I'm pretty happy with the bass fishing so far this year. The bad days have been pretty good. I've only been on the 'the pond' for a day and a half so far. Did pretty good the first time out. Just a handful of small keepers in half a day today (late start), but I wasn't fishing what I would normally fish this time of year today. Hunting and pecking for the BFL tournament next Saturday.

I've had some great days on other lakes!

BUT!!!! How the heck could you be fished out already!?!? Lots of fishing yet to come. You better do some prefishing exercises...

Dan, I've just caught so many, it's time for a break. Plus since I've gotten older I don't fish that much in July and Aug. Heat, bugs, surface weeds, crazy's, ect. just makes me back off for a bit. I'll still get out during the week a few times but I'll hit a few inland lakes also. I'll get out there at the crack of dawn and go till noon. Than back to the shade like the bass. lol

h2o<--says time for the Berkley Power Grubs and 1/8 oz. jigs.

I'm naving a ball!  Each time on the water is proving to be a learning experience.
It seems like I'm past that part of the learning curve where things come hard.

Catching lots of fish.  Now I just gotta find the bigger ones.

By the way H2O yesteday I bought me a #3 mepps aglia in the rainbow color!

fiker50  wtg. may it serve you well. Count it down in deeper water. Try and keep it 1-2-3 feet off the bottom. Use lite line with it. 4lb FireLine or min. 6lb. mono(oh the horror I said mono) lol. Should of bought 5 of them. lol

I do like Mepps better in the Spring when fish are shallow but they work all year long. Being the Worlds #1 lure you'll soon find out.

My season has been a funny one.  So far, i have missed 3 tournaments.  2 due to previous engagements.  1 due to a 'misunderstanding' on registration time.

The two i did fish, i had some terrible luck in.  The kent lake tournament, which i pre fished for for weeks, i had trolling motor failure.  which i later learned was just a loose connection.  Who'd a thought???  I checked everything but the negative connection on the back battery.  So, i blame my self.  The St Clair tournament, we drew too many boaters, and being that i am an assistant director, was forces to ride as a co angler.

I took 19th place in each.  Not pretty.  I am usually good for a higher finish in each.   This is not helping my season.

On the flip side.  I feel like i am on my game better than ever as far as catching fish goes.  It has been a great year so far, especially for bigger fish.  I havent had time to get out and fish a bunch of different lakes but i have been whackin them good on st clair and kent.  Josh and I caught the right kind of fish while pre fishing down in SC.  We each caught the biggest bass of our lives so far down there.  I think Josh caught a bigger one since then.  I havent........yet!

On a scale of 1-10 i rate my season an 8.5 on just fishing and a -2 for tournaments.  The season is young, i still have time to turn it around.  Oh yeah, i have to miss the next ABA tournament too.  Wedding shower.  bummage.
