I would prefer family members 18 and older be a registered member of GreatLakesBass.com. I will not request that of family members under 18 and prefer not to have family members under 13 register due to federal regulations. If you have a family member that wants to fish but not be a member, please just contact me privately to let me know. Youth 17 years or younger must be participating with a parent or legal guardian. Exceptions to this will need to be discussed with me in advance. Use the contact information above.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Nonboaters please bring life jackets to make sure we have enough. Life jackets must be worn zipped and/or buckled whenever the gas motor is running. Boater must use working kill switch when gas motor is running.
No live bait, artificials only. A Golden Rule courtesy board will be available at the weigh in. You can use your own weigh in bag.
I try to make sure there are as few boats as possible with no one that knows the water. I can have a mini-seminar before we launch on where to fish for people who ask for it. This is an event where we want to see everyone catch some fish!
If you have anything new or like new you'd like to donate for prize giveaways, please contact (http://glbass.com/contact) me.
This event is all about everyone catching some fish, having fun and getting to know each other, and also to honor the memory one of our greatest members - David MadWags Wagensomer!!! Thank you for being members of GreatLakesBass.com.
Post that you are attending, and if attending as a boater or nonboater in this thread please.
Yup in as non boater
I'm in. Probably as a boater. Depends on lake. I will know for sure as we get closer, or when a lake is picked.
Yep, boater
We're in
I'll be there as a boater.
In as non boater depending on location
In the spirit of this event, you should just fish no matter where it is. We always have a good time one way or the other. Always.
Of course I'll be there with the what is now concidered a "classic " boat. I have to repeate m big ugly . :D :D

I'd love to fish any lake. I only said that because I'm a track athlete cmu and only have so much time in my schedule.
I'm in as a non-boater. I'll make a fresh batch of brownies to fish on a ranger or a basscat!
i'm in... maybe i better just be a boater this year so i don't get stuck with kimmel and genie again......
... oh how quickly they forget the fun that was had in the Skeeter ...
I guess I could stick Dan in my boat. But he has to sit in the back and man the net . :D :D

That's a good plan. If you weren't in the boat, we could have gone to the secret big fish spot that day too!! ;D

I wouldn't trust me with the net if someone doesn't make me go to sleep earlier this time!! LGMOUTH wouldn't stop talking... ;D
If ya rember, I didn't need the net much last fall and a dead duck is easy to net LOL :D
I STILL wouldn't trust me very much!! ;D
After all the vids I saw of ya fishing, especially the muskie trip on st clare. I'd trust ya more to net than to hook up a fish :D :D
That's a real good point... Poor Bob. I made him look bad and I still have a lot of guilt over that!
You should. That was horrable hooksetting :D :D He on the other hand never missed one LOL
I don't know if there is a worse thing you can do when you fish with a Hall of Fame angler than miss almost all the fish he puts you on!! Especially the big fish!! For crying out loud... I missed the one real big muskie 3 TIMES!!! And the last time I saw the Brunner Runner vanish into the maw! No idea what was going on with me that day?!? Somehow, I have to make it up to Muskie Bob! I can't promise I won't front end him again though... I wasn't trying to. Not that he believes me! ;D
oh theres a worse thing . I could stick ya in my boat and show ya how much worse it can get LOL.
I backseat people all the time. I forget they can't cast as far as me . Even Ma yelled at me last year for that LOL
She should! That's what Ma's are for!
i'm in as a boater
I'm in as a non-boater.
Im in as a boater
for some of the east siders, I can offer my truck as car pool. Its a RAM Crew and seats 300 lbrs in the back seat NO PROBLEM. SO we could do 4 comfortably and tow a boat. I may be towing Franks boat, but we'll see what the demand is for carpooling, boats, money etc.... and go from there.
PM if you are interested.
Mojo:: Make um sit in the bed of the truck. That way it will be quiet on the way up. Mabye even give them neon rain parkas just in case. ;D
Im in as a boater on this one. If its on Skeg I'm not going to Hooters the night before!

Im in boater
Hmmm thought I stated I was in as a non-boater on the poll thread. Oh well, here I am again. :)
Thanks. It's helpful to me if everyone posts there intentions in 1 thread. I won't get confused as easily that way.

camping, hotel/motel where is everyone staying?
Might be able to make this one. Would be a non-boater. The event being on a Sunday makes it more likely that I can fish. However, it all depends on work, as usual.
I'm hoping to stay at 'Club Genie' but not confirmed yet.
Staying at the campground on elk. Nice campground with showers and power.
Staying at my parent's cottage on Glen Lake. Central air if it's hot, furnace heat if it's cold. 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms (one is not suitable for adults... just a set of kids bunk beds for the grand kids). If it were bigger I'd invite some of you to stay but it gets crowded really fast when my parent's are there!
probably stay at the torch lake motel at the mouth of the river...

sure you got a bed if you want one, but there is plenty of room if you want the floor or the pullout couch is good for one more (kinda lumpy tho), ha

No idea what tournament you are talking about as far as 'st-clair open'?? What event is a 2-day event on Lake St. Clair on a Friday and Saturday? I thought the St. Clair Open was on June 16?
Its the Fall Classic and it is the week before. I read it wrong. Old age is a terrible thing.

Well, I wondered if that is what you were referring to... If you like, I could delete this string of posts and then it would be like it never happened. Technically, you would be an iron man still!?! Let me know ;D

Don't help him!?! He is still thinking up stuff.
Ok the "local" know it all is gonna be there and I'm bringing "the commitee" from last year :D. AKA Ma.
I thought you were already in? Later is better than never. Ma is always welcome. Can she take fishing with you again okay?!? ;D
Dan, I'm going to have to go as a non boater. After all of the medicql bills that have been acquired for my wife this year, I can't swing binging the boat up there this time. Sucks, but I just can't do it.
Okay. Guess I better do an early head count this weekend to see where we are at. I probably will not have my truck and boat up there either. I hope to have my truck fixed and my boat paid for and back in the yard by then, but I'm not sure yet myself.
If I win the lotto or something, I could probably bring it. ;D
Yea she can take it. She's been married to my dad for years LOL

Non boater for me unless my insurance gives me a huge check.
Does that mean no more neon Nitro? How will you ever find a brighter boat?
Any boaters have an opening to fish on Saturday? I'd love to get in as a nonboater but it's too long a drive for me for just one day.

Did I miss something? What happened to your boat?
No story but the bad news of a broken hull was mentioned in the poll post just recently.
Big lake happened! The top came apart from the bottom. Taking it in tomorrow, the insurance guy was out monday and said he didn't feel it was fixable since it was structural. Sounds like they are planning on just junking it! Mike I did find an Arctic Cat green Bullet, you thought my boat was bright you need to see that boat.
I've seen one here in Muskegon several times. It was green and white. One of the only 2 Bullets I have ever seen. It was definitely a bright one.
Bet you don't go right out and get another Nitro eh? Or, given what's happened Don's luck or what happend to Mark's last week, maybe try a Triton, Bass Cat, Ranger, etc...???
Ranger Boats rules...
What are you trying to say, Mike? Do you honestly think there's a bass boat in the world that was made to be fished as much as Don's boat is? The Elite guys get what, a year out of a boat maybe? Don is on 4 or 5 now with his. Lol!
Aaron, buy something way cool, and take me for a ride in it.
Head count?
My Skeeter is still running strong!
I need to do a head count. I will get to it between now and the weekend. I thought I would this past weekend but a client had a major issue that took several days to resolve. Issue mostly over for now. Phew!

Don let you borrow your boat?
He was with me ... what are friends for?
Were there waypoints included in the deal?
Nope - my boat is kind of a floating computer so it was easy for him to just plug in his humminbird head unit to use so the waypoints never made it to any of my stuff.
That's a bum deal. Did you fix the tail light?
that wasn't my boat ... Don was borrowing a different boat that day - same boat just a year older.
Dan, do you have any #'s for how many boaters and non boaters scheduled to participate in this tournament?
Working on it. I have to finish going through email, PM and voice mail exceptions. That part always confuses me.
Sign me up as non-boater
I will be there as a boater Dan. Wasn't really all that sure until now. Won't be able to pre-fish it at all as I have to work all day Saturday the 29th, so who ever fishes with me better have something worked out to find fish! ;D
I wont be able to fish as non boater... Too much school work and club responsibilities to do before the club tourney... :-\'
Okay. Thanks to a pro-active cameraguy I'm slowly working on a list. Still have to finish going through PM, VM and email exceptions too.
It actually looks like Veronica and I wont be able to make it. I didn't get the time off work. First time this year though, so can't complain too much.
Bummer. Now we KNOW the bass are going to be biting!!!!! ;D
Let's just hope that with the weather pattern we are having lately, we don't get our first freeze again the night before. That was a major bummer last year.
bring on the cold water! lets just hope its not a crazy high-pressure front like last year. We fished that friday near lake michigan in 40mph winds and 2 story waves on the big lake lol. thats sept for ya - could be 90 and sunny or could be 45 are rippin..... shorter days and dropping water temps = fall feed bag. bring it on!
Last year my boat had a white sheet on it by the time I got there. It was 26 degrees when I pulled in to the boat launch. Don't want that again.
I froze my can off that morning!
Yeah, you looked pretty cold when we pulled in.
Be more like charlie sheen - do not fear the white stuff.
Ummmmmmm.......... Ok.
But only if you have tiger blood flowing thru your body...
Are the boater and non boater numbers close?
I think you all should try camping in OPEN TENT like bassfan586 and myself did last year...talk about being cold!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what I came up with by going through the pages. I understand that there are some who have e-mailed and PM'd Dan. It would be nice if everybody posted their intentions on this thread so someone other than Dan could do an accurate tabulation. That is why this thread exists.
Dan has not done a count because he is very busy trying to scratch out a living. BTW, he did not ask or tell me to post this. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he deletes it as he doesn't want to hurt anybody's feelings or create any ill will.
Also, this is supposed to be a "fun" tournament and a way for members to hang out and meet other members by doing what we all have in common...enjoying the sport/recreation of fishing. That's why this is designated a "draw" tournament.

It looks like we will be hanging out alright, to the tune of 3 to every boat. I wish I could bring mine, but I just can't pay for the whole trip right now.
I will throw this out there. I can't afford to foot the gas bill for the whole trip. If someone from the west side, or someone who will be driving through the Muskegon area would be interested in splitting gas in the truck and in the boat 50/50, we could team up and fish. At the very least, this would take me off the nonboater list, and put another NB in my boat. Plus, it would put another NB in the boat I would have fished from. Or, if two people wanted to split the trip 3 ways with me, it would keep a smaller boat from having to fish 3 people all day. Just an idea, but I will need to know fairly soon.
Split 2 ways, this trip would cost roughly 70 to 75 bucks each. 3 ways, about 50 each.

Sorry. Death in the family. I will probably not get to this until after the out of town funeral Wednesday but I will get to it soon.
I have had a boater or two so far say they are willing to take 3 in a boat. We will probably need several. I do not expect to have my truck fixed and boat payed for in time for the event unfortunately so I'm riding up with someone.
Thanks for the initial tally. I have some of the PM, VM and email changes at least in 1 or 2 places to go through.

Sure! Thanks for joining!
I do need 1 clarification - by 2 fisherman, do you mean just you and your son? Or are you bringing an additional non-boater besides your son?
Okay. I'm just waiting for answers from 4 people that I sent private messages too and then I can post the list and draw for Saturday. We are in pretty good shape with just a few triples.
Thanks..Just the 2 of us....would have room for one if they were boatless, we will be there early.
Great! Thanks for clarifying and for the offer to take another! Glad to have you aboard and see you there!

He NEVER comes. He was just foolin' with me this year I guess... :'(
:'( I really thought that I would be able to make this one. It is not very often that work comes along for a Sunday this late in the game. But it did. Since my work load was so awful in June and July, I have to take the work so I can try to catch up.
I have been out fishing only once this year so this would have been fantastic. Especially since that part of the state is at the top of my list of favorite destinations this time of year. It wasn't meant to be, I guess.
Well... there's always next year. Or the year after...
I did get my 'little' brother to agree to possibly, maybe fix my truck sometime soon. If it is something he can do. Now I have to go earn the money.

Who? Me Dan? I blew a brake line or something back in the middle of July. Haven't even crawled under there to find it yet. Just know the fluid was running out about as fast as I can pour it in from somewhere up in the frame above the back axle on the driver side. Ever drive a 1-ton dually with no power brakes!?! Yikes!!!
That kind of stuff is usually beyond my hammer, screwdriver and duct tape abilities. Might not be beyond my 'little' brother's though. He can fix a lot of stuff as long as it doesn't require something drastic like a giant hoist. Since it is a dually, he can even fit under it!
I would rather drive it with no brakes than have to put gas in that beast.
Having to put gas in it is another good reason I have not looked underneath yet.
