Title: Camping in the UP
Post by: MIBassKid on June 28, 2009, 06:49:04 PM
Anyone know any good camp grounds in the UP with good fishing in the surrounding area?  We will be hauling a small flat bottom boat or canoe so it is easy to get into the smaller lakes and portage.  Thanks in advance for the info!

When are you going, If I am not to late hit Marquette Co. They have LOTS of lakes and some good rivers, and a ton of campgrounds.

I'll be going up the first week in August.  Thinkin about staying in Munising at Pete's Lake or Widewaters.  Any idea what the fish will be doing? (not just bass, will the bluegills still be spawning?)

I hear lots of good things about Big Manistique Lake and the Curtis area.  The guy that runs the Thursday night trail I fish puts a tournametn on there every September, and someone else was just telling me how good the fishing was there.  Never been there myself, so.......

I also have heard good things about the Curtis area, but also have not been there.

Can't say I have either, but the Marquette area is my favorite. Particularly the lakes out around Gwinn, both Bass lakes, both Shag lakes, switzers basin, cadirac basin, and some I forgot the names of.
