There is every store or restaurant you can think of within a 15 min drive.  28th street has the Woodland mall, Or Alpine has tons of other options.

There really isn't any "mall" type place within walking distance of Devoss.  Monrow Avenue (one block south) has some nice shops and eateries though.  The Boars Head restaurant across the street and just south half a block or so has great food ( I know the owner ).

Other than that you'd have to drive.  As stated, Woodland Mall is on the corner of 28th and the East Beltline (M37).  Lots of shops and restaurants there.

Have her drop you off, and set the gps for the Rivertown Crossings Mall. That's the best mall in the area, and its probably a 20 minute ride or so from Devos. That will keep her busy for the day, and you won't have to pay for parking at the fishing show either.

You are going to want to drop her off, or have her drop you off, at Rivertown Crossings Mall. She will definitely want to be there. It has a theatre, plenty of eateries, and lots of shopping.
If you're spending the night, there is a Residence Inn across the street from Rivertown, within walking distance, and it's a very nice place. If you can get a government rate, you're looking at a very reasonable stay in a room with stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, dishes, pans, etc. They also have a great breakfast.
My favorite Grand Rapids Chinese food place and one of my favorite dinner places, Carrabba's is in the mall area.
If she likes to play the slots, the newish Gun Lake Casino is just 30 minutes south on US 131. On Monday's and Wednesdays in March their food at the Sandhill Cafe is 50% off. The food there rivals any place around. By far best casino food in the state.

Second thought, you might not want to bring her, you may never get back home.

Watch out for Gun Lake Casino.  Its a fun place, and only 20 mins from downtown.  But I will say that I have never won there!

have won there every time I have went. However, as my dad use to say, you have to win more than you lose  ;D. They don't build those casinos to give money away, that's for sure. Gun Lake is particularly tight. The only machine that pays off each time is the ATM.

Ok. I'll be dropped off Sunday morning. Any recommendations for hotels with hot tubs, pools. Spending some cash so we don't mind. River town crossing was great input Mike. Thanks ! Have a 12 yr old boy and 9 yr old girl. Any recommendations for maybe a hotel with indoor water park ?
