I'd like to get into painting cranks myself but I'll keep it simple.....My first jigs.
LureCraft Darter heads, and hand tied skirts. I used 80lb Stren super braid to tie the skirts. I am amazed how much more the skirts flare when they are tied. For my lighter jigs I might reduce the strand count to reduce the profile caused by the tied/flared skirts.
A couple pics.

Those look awesome! They look like they will make great swimming jigs.
Thanks.....
I saved out a couple of the primed heads to paint black and make the basic black/blue. And another I'm not sure of...I want it to be a bluegill patterned swim jig I think..
my brother inlaw and I made the orginal mango jig. it was designed ofr lilly pads. then it was stole by M%$#@ and you see it now.nice looking jig's you made. you might also try carpet thread, it comes in many color's and can flare really nice.
