When I looked on the DNR Site I didn't see that CFB has an event there that day. How about August 20th.
Anyone in for a Hollow Body Frogs Only Event.
I have a Scale and everything we need for weigh in.
Sunday August 20
No Horny Toads of any other baits ( Honor System ).
7:00 am to noon or 1:00 pm.
5.00 entry fee per person
Everyone can weigh 1 bass.
Pay 3 places. 50%, 30%, 20% of the pot. Cash payout No 1099's will be issued.
I will have some prizes to give away.
I might be able to do that.
That sounds like a great event, but I will be unable to attend. That is the last day of the BASS Elite Series on Lake St. Clair and I plan on attending morning blast off, spectating from the water for a bit and then attending the weigh in. If the date changes let me know and I will try to be there.
I think I'll be able to do this one. Good idea Steve!
Forgot that is the date of the Bassmaster... but I wasn't planning on being there many days so it's okay.
I changed the date to August 20th because there is a CFB event there on the 27. I didn't look at the DNR Site fist. My bad. Hope everyone can make the 20th.
Oh man...?!? Actually, I'm open for that weekend too, and if I decided to go to the last day of the Bassmaster tournament I could now do that. So I guess it's good for me!
ok im in
7am would be tight for me. I work till 6:30. I'll keep hoping I get a day off. I'd love to do this

Just get there when you can Mike. It's a fun event. Love to see ya out there.
Talked to Derek today and we are tentatively in for this event as long as nothing weird comes along.
it will cost me more just to get into the park, unless i get there early, HA

Like the Pro's. It's not the money. It's the Fame associated with winning. .
A buddy and myself are in. Boat minimum length required? I have a 16' side console, I see a lot of tournaments have a 18' minimum?
I have not posted here much,my old name was "sleepingintreess" but for some reason was locked out and unable to log in.i got frustrated and made a quick new name.
No boat size limit. Just a livewell to keep 1 fish per person alive. Kent Lake is a 10 mph speed limit lake.
Now that the date is changed, I'm in! Looking forward to it!

FYI: You should have contacted me for help so I could fix the issue mostly likely for you. I don't see an existing member with a name like the one you mention however? Do you remember what your actual original username was? I'd like to check it out to see what might be wrong with it.
My original name was "sleepingintrees" same as on Michigan sportsman. For some reason an S was added in the post above.
As far as the tournament goes I'll be there with a friend. My boat has 2 live wells. Will be at Kent tomorrow morning if you see a 16' smoker craft north of buno that's us. Feel free to say hello.
Odd... no such member exists and I generally don't delete old usernames. Way, way, way back I used to allow people to delete their own account but quite some time ago I changed the setting to have deletions reviewed by admin first because of a number of recurring issues and incidents. I guess your old user account must have been deleted. Well, the good news is your on here now, it's working and you are participating! That's what counts!!
I'm in if I'm not in Montana. I need to decide whether I am going the week before or after august 26 - or both weeks. The 26th is a family reunion and celebration of my grandmothers 90th bday.
We fished there Tuesday and the lake is a Stinky Nasty Mess of Dead weeds in the areas where frogging would be fun. The upriver portion of the lake seemed lifeless. Guess unless someone has a better idea for a lake we just cancel it. I hope to not have to go back to Kent this year. Sad what they have done to that lake.
A VERY good chance with my new job, I won't have to work weekends, at least for a while. I'm in no matter where we go.
is this still ON for the 20th, with the condition of the lake like it is now?

Guess it's up to the group. I posted what I did after fishing it. Who's in.
Well... I was 'in' but I'm not real excited if the lake isn't set up right now very well for hollow body froggin' ?? Don't relish a day of throwing frogs with no action... Just going by a few recent fishing reports since I haven't been there this year.
I'm not sure off the top of my head about any other lakes in SE Michigan that have a lot of froggy cover??
What about Portage Lake Chain (Pinckney)? There's a bass tournament (a club I think with 10 boats) listed on Saturday, but nothing listed on Sunday.
mike and rick are out there today (sunday 13th) we can wait for a fishing report and go from there

Might be going there Wednesday for a boat ride up to Zukey Lake for lunch. Will see what it looks like. Only on it one time about 10 years ago.
Rick, my grandson and I fished Kent yesterday. We didn't really see any of the stinky mess that was reported, but the fishing was VERY slow. This was not the Kent lake of lore. We fished some topwater and Rick caught one pike. Most of the fish (pike) were caught on spinner baits. I did manage one keeper bass on a spinner bait. Only one other short bass caught under the bridge all day. I don't know what happened to Kent lake during the 3 years I haven't fished it, but we couldn't find em. I'd be happy to try Portage or any other lake. I'm not real keen on spending another $20 on Kent.
I haven't been on the boards much lately, but why not return the frog event to that lake in the Lansing area that we had it at a few years ago?
The answer to the worlds problems.... Belleville lake ! ... lol

OMG !!
ROFLMAO
My club is fishing Portage lake on Saturday, we are doing a team tournament so that's why it is listed as 10 boats.
I won't be able to fish back to back days this week, so I'm out with the date change.
So where are we going? Inquiring minds want to know.
I'll be on West GTB sitting in a charter boat looking for salmon, steelhead and lakers.
Cruised from Portage lake to Zukey Lake. Not a lot of frog water along the way. There is some in the river but not a lot.
No idea about lake Ovid.
Guess we just cancel it.

Ok, so out of everyone who had planned to fish this on Sunday, who wants to just go fishing and meet up? Maybe some lake that has water access to food for lunch? I have new sonars to play with and I promised a buddy some fishing. It would be nice if others wanted to go too.
My boat is still without lower unit so if someone has a backseat, let me know.
I am out. A buddy fished the upper river at Kent yesterday. Said it is choked and no current coming in. Maybe we could do an outing when the White Lake Launch open. Then lunch at the Inn.
Just don't let Bob pick the day or it'll rain.
i'm out
no white mouse top water, no mojo.......... the mouse must be in the house !
Well... I was going to suggest Ovid after hearing Portage Chain didn't look promising - used to be lots of pads in the little lakes and clumps in some of the bigger lakes?
Derek and I went to Ovid Tuesday and the majority of our bites were on topwater over the big milfoil beds. Mostly small keepers though I did have a much better one on that I lost to a thick patch it dove in to. Saw a few better fish feeding in the stuff too! Interesting part is we didn't fish until noon to 5pm on a bright, mostly sunny day so I'm wondering how much better the morning bite might be?
At this point I'm not even sure I can still get Derek to fish? With all the other cancellations I'd say forget about this one. But maybe sure consider Lake Ovid next time.
Does it count that it not just rained, but POURED on the planned event day....
Of course... I say when we try to pull this off for good (and I volunteer Lake Ovid as an always decent to good choice) that we post one date publicly but only share the REAL date through private messages... that way we might trick the entity who is sending the rain all the time?!?
I think we need a Pike Tournament. Fished Long Lake Thursday about 1/4 mile from my house and caught Pike all day. Yesterday we went to Sanford Lake 120 miles away and caught Pike All Day. Maybe if we try a Pike Tournament we will catch Bass.
I've fished 1 pike tournament ever. Took 1st place and big pike. Just went bass fishing and hammered the pike!

I used to own that (and a bunch more) but I set it free...
or did it break off?
Okay... it was a bite off.
