Title: Carrot Stix by E21
Post by: 1javelin on January 11, 2008, 08:50:29 PM
Has anyone fished with these rods at all, or had a good chance to hold one and play around a little bit with it?  I am interested in picking some up, but have no store that I know of with them stocked.  Cabelas sells them, but it is a catalog order only item they told me.  How am I supposed to decide if I like them if it is a catalog order only item?  Any help would be appreciated.

Haven't touched one but figure its a good idea, if the fishin' is slow you can always gnaw on the rod...you might even start seeing more fish ;)  I know bad joke.  From what I've read they've been getting good reviews...

There was a thread on bbc about them, no one who had them liked them.  They all said they were a good rod but way too expensive for the performance.  When I checked the website about a month ago, spinning rods were not available yet.

Myself and a couple of my friends are also interested in them.  But, I won't buy one if I can't "play" with one first.  We went to the Novi show yesterday hoping someone, maybe even e21 would be there with a couple to hold and feel.  Nope.  No one had any.  I ended up buying a B&R Outlaw rod instead.  From the owner of the company no less.  He spent some good time showing me his product.  I compared his rods to most of the other top-line rods at the show and came back and bought his.

As I understand it, D&R Sports in K-zoo is a rep for the Stix rods... but they don't have any yet.  I also see that the e21 site has all the rods listed as available now.  But like I said I won't buy something I can't "test drive" first.

1,

I am in Kalamazoo almost weekly.  I will keep my eye open at D&R and let you know when they have them.  I will also check them out and let you know what I think.

I recently bought a 7'2" Medium Extra Fast Cumara drop shot rod.  Have not had a chance to fish it yet but I sure am looking forward to it.  Very light, very sensitive, and I like the short foam piece in front of the reel for your finger to rest on... much more comfortable than most other manufactureres who are putting the reel seat threads and nut in front of the reel.  Honestly I bought this rod because I couldn't find a Carrot Stix rod anywhere in Michigan to touch and feel.  In my opinion e21 is missing the boat by NOT having any rods out there, no demos, and they are not hitting the shows... a big error in marketing as far as I'm concerned.

Speaking of Shimano.  I am interested to check out the new Cumara.  Has anyone every used the Shimano Crucial Crankbait rods?  I have Loomis Crankbait rod and I love it.  I was about to buy another one but I started to do some research on other crankbait rods.  I would to find a good CB rod for under $200.00.

I bet ohya sales on ebay would sell you a loomis crankbait rod for $140-$150 from the factory if they dont carry it. Dont know what other brands they sell but its probably about 30% off retail.
