Title: cabin feaver anyone?
Post by: Got Fish?? on February 27, 2014, 02:37:02 PM
By this time  of year I've got my sights on what small section of open water I plan on hitting from shore, just to work the cobwebs out. Even though most of the time I don't catch much. Not this year, I hope ice will be out by the end of March. I'm going to basspro to pickup some new line and get all my reels changed out. My boat is in my garage I guess I'll start getting her ready. Change all my hooks on old baits, sort out all my boxes. Make a list of what I need to replace. I hope this summer comes soon and is a good one.

My cabin fever is so bad and it's been so cold, I bought a new space heater for the garage just so I can get out and start doing some of my spring upgrades and maintenance.  My tackle and reels have been done since about the end of January.  I've got so many "check this" waypoints I've made that I had to stop looking at maps or it would get plain ridiculous.   My wife says I get grumpy and in a funk about the middle of February every year.  I can vouch for that this year, especially. It's been a looooooooong winter...  :-\'

Ice fishing has been pretty spectacular all winter, so I haven't even had a chance or thought to look at my tackle. I'm starting to wonder if I'll be trying find safe ice vs open water for my bachelor party weekend in early April. The classic combined with seeing the details for the D and R sports trail really have got me excited for spring. Bring on the open water!

I reorganized my tackle while watching the classic weigh ins. My wife is mad because it's all still in the bedroom......In her way. I need to re spool my reels, but I'm waiting until a couple days before opener. I have some work to do to the boat, but it's too dang cold right now. I can't wait to get on the water and do some side imaging exploring before the weeds come up.

Reorganizing and labeling tackle.  Didn't realize how expensive that can be.   Created too many open slots in the 3700's and 3600's that just had to be filled.  Bandits and bombers and freaks oh my.

Also found some extras that I hope to bring to the swap.

I'll be glad to be done with ice fishin'. Using spinning  reels and tying knots with 2lb. test is getting old.   A baitcaster and heavier line is sounding very good right now.

Never heard it called 'spool my reels' before... ;D

If you're near SE Michigan (even if you're not) come over to Outdoorama! You should hear the fish stories!!!!

I sold my shanty and flasher at the beginning of the winter since I was tired of not using it the last couple winters due to inconsistent ice.  Oops!
