Anyone know what to use? I went all through the owners manual (disc) and couldn't find any info. I have water spots on my screen and have tried cotton cloth and bottled water, that didn't work so I tried Zeiss lens wipes and those worked to a point. Can I just use a glass cleaner or is there a product specific for these screens?

Eric

I use the Windex with vinegar on all my electronics every time I get off the water.  That was a recommendation from BBC, I believe.

Dan

Do you mix them or use them separately?

Eric

I should have specified.  Thanks.  There is a Windex product that has vinegar in it. It comes that way.

What do you use to wipe it down with?  Soft cloth?
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Lint free cloth.  If you don't let the water spots harden - wipe them down every time off the water, you can use just regular water and the lint free cloth.  Works pretty well.

50% vinegar 50% water in a spray bottle, wipe dry with a paper towel.
It will amaze you.
Look past what they want you to see.

there is a new product on the market that i was actually going to sell on our Nemesis website.  it keeps your electronics screens minty fresh and keeps the water spots from staining in the first place.  and now i cant remember what its called.  bollocks.  i will look around.

Get the windex multi surface cleaner,it has vinegar in it. Works great.

Durand Dan

You can use Rain-X on the screen to help repel waterspots after it's clean

Bassomatic

Windex with vinegar is what is recommended on the Humminbird web site.

Very interesting. The one thing though is the use of paper towels? I've always been told those types of paper products can scratch glasses and screens?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I stay away from paper towels and only use a special eye glass cleaning rag, and keep it washed out.  I've gotten too many scratches over the years on my older units.  To get water spots off, I just use a teaspon of vinegar in a cup of water and dip the rag in it with my finger and the spots come right off.

fiker

I've tried all of these techniques, including the Windex with vinegar in it that humminbird recommends.

I don't find these screens easy at all to clean.  In fact, I'm really disappointed in how quickly they get smudged, and how hard they are to clean.

i bought some meijer brand windex with vinegar a couple weeks ago and was blown away when i wiped my 798 screen down with a microfiber towel.  it was like it just came out of the box brand new.  im sold.

fasttrack

Yeah, be sure to use a good micro towel so it doesn't leave fuzzies, etc. I also tried the Rain-X trick and it seems to help a lot.

Mark,  I can probably make my own "micro" towel with a pair of scissors.   :D

I will try the Rain-X trick too.

Good one Cy! Its a soft, low-nap towel you could use for computer monitors, flat screen tv's, etc. Should be able to get them most anywhere those items are sold. Good chance Walmart even has them tho I havent looked. I even put the RainX on my glasses too. Seems to help the fogging in the morning as well as water spots when the 5 lb'ers thrash around the 'well (ok, the 2 lb'ers). See you this Sat (right?)

Once you do get it cleaned you can buy a sheet of silicon screen cover like the material that comes on new phones. This will stick to the screen and shed moisture
