I'm having some issues with a stereo install. If anyone is good with this stuff, please PM me and I'll explain. Thanks

WOW, I love this site. So many responses, I cant keep up LOL. Here is my problem in a nutshell. I put in a new stereo. There are two hot wires. One is red and is supposed to go to the switch. The other is yellow and supposed to go to constant 12v. This is for the memory, presets, clock, etc. If I hook both the red and yellow wires to the switch, everything works, except no clock, presets, etc. If I run the yellow wire to the pos side of the battery, I get nothing. I'm going to try calling Pyle when I get home from work if someone else cant figure it out first. Thanks again for all the responses, and offers of help. You really are a great bunch of people.

I'm sure its the same as a car.  You have two wires for a pos. connection. Like you said. One for the constant power on the radio, and one for the switch.  I always thought the red wire was a constant positive and the (Blue i thought?) was a remote wire.  It could be yellow I guess.  Make sure you have your ground conected correctly and make sure you have the correct wire going to the constant power.  Then all you should have to do is find a remote wire and splice into that(attaching the correct wire). I am guessing you have either the wrong positive wires or the switch wire your splicing into is not the correct one.

Hope this helps.

To clarify when you run the yellow to the battery, do you also have the red wire attached to a switched power source?  If you don't it won't work.  Also make sure you have the ground connected and the antenna.

I can't really figure out what the difference would be with the yellow and red hooked up separately to make it not work when it works if they are hooked up to the same source. Normally the blue wire is a remote power out used to switch on an amp or electric antenna. Just to make sure the power on the switch is coming from the same battery that you have the yellow hooked up to right?

Maybe instead of running the yellow to the battery you could run it to the power source side of the main switch you are using for the switched power. Also if it is run to the battery I would put a fuse on it as close to the battery as possible for safety.

I personally would just hook it up with both wires to the switch anyway.  Everything would work good but you wouldnt be able to save your preset stations and your clock would be wrong.  Then at least you would be able to shut it 100% off with no extra drainage from your battery.

That's the way I have mine hooker up on my boat.  I normally can't get an radio stations anyway on the water.  I had sat radio for a while and now I can play CDs or run my MP3 player.

On my big boat, I have the yellow wire hooked to the ACC switch, and the red is hooked to the ignition switch.  That allows me to keep my presets and clock.  I can also kill all power to the stereo by turning the ACC switch off.
