Hello fellow addicts. Havent had time to fish since Burt Mullet.

I have some potential morning and evening times during the week and this weekend to put in and fish Smallies. Is there anyone who'd meet me up in Marine City, put in and let me pay for the gas to run around fawn or wherever the 6 lb girls may be hiding ? Im a back boater a can a gulp and I aint afraid to use it !!!

;D ;D ;D

Spur of the moment, but my job has had me out of town nearly 6 consecutive weeks !! Im in just this week. Thanks

Mike
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

Original song and lyrics by "MadWags"

What's with the news these days on the TV and the radio. Can't find the truth amongst the lies. Some talking head that claims to live their life in a better way, says I have to compromise. But now there's something on the rise. Truth has opened up my eyes. There's no running from your dirty lies. You can't avoid the truth. I'll no longer close my eyes.

Speaking of Algonac, have the smallies moved into the channel system yet?

It has become a yearly migration for me as well when they move on up.

Last year, and again this year, the EBA is going to fish it in August.
What a blast!
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I fished out there this past sunday.  We put in at Marine CIty and started at fawn.  Couldnt get anything going with smallmouths, but i did catch a nice rock bass in 45 fow on the goby.

After Fawn, we headed north and again didnt find much goin on anythhing north of Fawn.  A couple small 1.5 - 2 lb fish.

So we made the obvious decision to head south.  Our initial plan was to run to the Firecracker to see if the bigger fish were schooled up in the area, but we made a couple stops first.  We immediatly started catching good fish.  I can not get into too much detail as far as spots, but i will say that just about everything south of Russel Island in the South Channel and the Shipping Channel is heating up.

We caught several 3+ lb fish, a few 4s and one big one that ate a 3" Nemesis Goby in Dark Cinnamon w/ Purple.  This color was the ticket on Sunday.  I played around with 5 different colors and the DCP was by far the color of choice for the River System Smallies.

All my fish came on the DS goby.  I had a tube rod rigged up that I never had to reach for.  I took a few cast with a jerkbait along the edge of the flat by the Basset and had a good strike, but when the fight started the fish got smaller.  I ended up dumping it before i ever saw it, but it didnt feel like anything special.

A few fish were caught on a tube by my partner, but the DS was definatly the ticket.

In my expert opinion, which i base on my vast knowledge of the St Clair Channels and River from my experience of one trip out there so far this year, it will be another week and a half to two weeks before the fish start to show up in numbers up at Fawn.  It has been a little cooler this year so its a little behind compared to last.  We only caught one 2 lber at Russel.  When the start showing up at Russel, its only a matter of days before Fawn will start to turn on.  I dont know any of this to be true, but it seems to be the case for me at least the past few years fishing the river.

So i would say, dont waste any time at fawn.  Put in at North Channel launch and head south and work your way back.  we only fished one spot in the North Channel before heading back to Fawn where we made several more drifts with little to show, and didnt get into them in the North either.  I dont know much about the North Channel anyway.  I got a good report from the Middle Channel also, lots of 2-3 lbers but no big ones.

Good luck and let us know.

Here was our biggest from Sunday.
