Will keep it short. Hopefully, the Drum King, Pike Master, D. Kimmel will write a more detailed report.
I usually don't like to hit LSC on weekends but since this was the only day I could get out there for a few weeks, I had to give it a try. Fortunately the big boat traffic wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
Dan was showing his usual impatience and switched techniques quite often. He was doing okay using a variety of lures including tubes, spybaits, dropshots, and a crankbait, I think.
Dan also hooked up with a couple of his nemesis fish, Freshwater Drum. He says he hates catching them but he must love it since he catches so many. They do fight hard.
Dan was doing okay. I wasn't catching much. I tried a crank...nothing. A tube...nothing. Spybait...zip. Then I started throwing a dropshot. Bingo. Didn't catch a ton but started catching them fairly consistently. Easily my best was 5lbs. 2oz. Dan's big'un was 5lbs. 9oz.
We fished west of the Belle River hump the whole time. It was somewhat slow but there was enough action to make it fun. There were a couple of boats nearby that seemed to have the fish dialed in better as we saw them catch fish more often. Seeing that told me that fish were there even though we had some slow periods.
Also, the sky was hazy and the water was a little churned up, so it was almost impossible to see color variations in the bottom much less the bottom in detail.

Nice report. I went this morning from 6:30-10:30 with my brother and our buddy. We stopped at a couple spots along the way but spent the majority of our time on the Belle River Hump. It was pretty slow. We only caught 7 or 8 combined, with a bonus walter. Throwing tubes, dropshots, and jerkbaits. A pretty strong south wind developed early in the morning so we had a pretty good drift going and definitely covered some water. Still having a very hard time locating and staying on fish in deeper water during this summer pattern.

Thanks. Forgot to mention we were fishing 15'-19'

I'm a little behind in my fishing reports... I don't hate sheepies. Just get tired of catching them when I'm hoping for a fish of a different color. I do get less friendly-feeling towards them on some of my rare Lake Erie days when my arms get tired from catching sheephead!!

Now pike... that's a whole different matter!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
