Lowrance Hds Gen 2 and Navionics Compatibility????

Ok here goes,

Looking into buying the new navionics plus card for an HDS Gen2 (touch at bow-button at console). I don't really want to buy the whole U.S. and Canada (instead of regions) but for $50 more I am better off I think being that a winter trip may become more of a regular thing in the future. Also wondering if I need to buy the updates and put those on there because I'm not sure when the last time it was done to my graghs.  I don't have any mapping software in the graphs right now but borrowed a Lowrance hd v14 card from a buddy. Has Sam Rayburn but no T.Bend. I say that because that is where I am headed. Next week. Thanks for any help ahead of time.
