ye ole tackle shop in north webster has had 3 of these for the last year and i was wondering what technique you would use these for? the rod is a x-fast- 6-12 lb and also 3/16 - 5/8 ounce. i have a 6-9 avid that i 'm thinking would be a good match for this rod.would this be a good tube and grub rod since it's a little stiffer than the 6-9?i use the 6-9 for 1/16th ounce jigs with smaller plastics and maybe a dropshot rod since i have 6lb p-line cxx on it now..thanks again..Karol

i believe the 6-8" was their drop shot model.

The 6-8 is the xfast medium power.  The dropshot rod is a MlXf.  I think 6'10"

I do not have any xf rods personally.  I like the 70mlf st. croix for my dropshot and finesse fishing.   No reason not to like the 6'8" xf from me, just have not tried it.

6 lb Smallmouth

I have the 6-8 in the casting version and IMO that would be a pretty stiff rod for tubes and grubs.  I have the 6-9 MLXF and I use that rod for all of those applications you mentioned- tubes, grubs, wacky, and shakey.  The rod has been my on my workhorse spinning combo over the last couple seasons.  I know the rod is recommended for drop shot but I like a lighter rod for that application.  But overall, you can't go wrong with the Avid series.  Great rods.

Maybe a jerkbait / jerkworm / stick worm / soft plastic jerkbait rod?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I use primarily Avids.  I use the mlxf for drop shotting only.  Although I'm sure this would work fine for Shakey Heads.

I use the mxf for jerkbaits, light jigs, tubes, and stick worms.

I find the xf tips give me a better cast.  Both for accuracy and for distance.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.
