Co-angler question - catching the pros followers?

I'm fishing the bfl for my first time this year.  My question is, if the pro is bringing a fish in and others follow it in, is it a violation of etiquette for the co to toss at the followers?   Obviously not talking about throwing in front of the boat, but is anything to the side fair game in this situation?

I've always been pretty lucky and had boaters who encouraged me to try and catch em.  Just make sure the net is ready for him!

Remember to net there fish first.  Then if there is a follower on the rear half of the boat it is yours.

Net his fish first and then followers anywhere are fair game.

Got Fish??

If your  fishing as team, net the biggest fish first. If your fishing against each other. If the  first  fish needs to be netted, net his first. Many tournaments have been won catching following fish.

you might want to read the BFL rules over again.
I thought that once the pro was not fishing or off the front deck the co couldn't start fishing until the pro took care of his fish and steped back up to the front deck... I could be incorrect though...

I have always encouraged my co's to catch a follower.  It goes both ways, i have caught co's followers.  Usually we net them in order that we stick them - unless we already have limits and we can see that 1 of the fish won't help and the other will - then go for the big one.  Just communicate and you will be fine.

I remember a BFL a few years ago - we could see fish all day and they would follow our baits, but not eat.  My co picked up a jerkbait, sure enough the fish would follow it but not hit.  I fired a tube behind his jerkbait and bam, the fish turned and ate.  Found that to be the pattern, so we took turns - every other fish, one guy would use the jerkbait, the other would catch them with a tube.  We both cashed checks.

I think that is only in the upper level tournaments...BASS opens etc..

I always got everything out in the open before the tournament and that way it was know by my partner so no surprises during the day...
Pretty clear to me on that one as I would most likely be a telling you to whip your bait on in..
