I wanted to start this post in efforts for it to be used as a possible tool that all of us could possibly benefit from.? I'm curious as to what everybody does for a living.? I use fishing as a basis for conversation everyday whether meeting new people or as an ice breaker with prosective clients / customers.? the first time I met Kim Stricker, he came into my office on a sales call selling his paint.? When he saw my screen saver, that had bass boats floating all over the screen, he got a big smile on his face and said this is a start of a great business relationship!? ?I believe networking can be done with almost whomever you meet...you can never know too many people.? ?Now if anyone takes offense to this please let me know and I can remove the post.? Also, if anybody doesn't feel comfortable with releasing information, then by all means don't post.? I'm posting with good intentions.? With that being said...

I am a Project Manager / Estimator for a Structural Steel Fabriction and Erection company in Saginaw.? We specialize in Dow Chemical and Corning plant work as well as commercial and industrial work (example) schools, hospitals, office buildings..

I also have been doing CAD home plans for about 12 years now.  I have worked independently for several log home companies and independent builders.  My wife finally got me to draw one for us, we are planning to build this spring.

This is a good idea.  It is nice when we can all know what we all do for a living.  It helps make this a little more personal and maybe strike up new friendships.  And with that being said.....

I am a Instrumentation and Electronics Technician at DaimlerChrysler Engineering.  If my screen name is not a giveaway.....I am a salary UAW employee.  In June of 2005, I got elected Union Steward for my district.  DCX is made up of about 9 districts of about 900 Technicians and Experimental Mechanics.  When I am not the steward, I work in the ride and handling area for Jeeps and Trucks.  I have been with DCX for 21 years.

If we make our annual winter tackle shop tour as me and a couple of my fishing buddies like to call it......out to D and R and of course down to Edwardsburg to Lunkers, we will stop in for ribs.?

I LOVE RIBS!!!!!!![/b][/i][/size]

You can count on it.  We just haven't decided when we are going to go.  Usually we go when Lunkers has their annual fishing extravaganza.  Usually in early March.

I always cringe when someone asks me what I do, because it's kinda hard to describe and I normally get blank stares from people...  I am an instructional designer who specializes in eLearning design and development.  Translation: I use the internet (the "e") and other digital technologies to facilitate learning (if you couldn't guess, this is the learning part  :D)...aka to teach people stuff.  Up until recently, I did independent consulting, mostly to Tier 1 suppliers, DCX, Daimler Financial, GMAC, UM Ann Arbor...blah blah blah.  But, with the downturn in the economy I've had to go and get a "real" job, so I'm working at Wayne State University as an Employee Development Specialist...a fancy way to say I work in the Training Dept developing eLearning and Performance Support materials, web applications, etc...

Short description: computer/medical data nerd

Longer description: work for McLaren Health Plan in Flint monitoring, watching over and babying our AIX - D3 based medical management server along with all the data requirements from the mundane to the kind of tricky when dealing with Michigan Medicaid, TPA and Commercial HMO clients and regulations.

I also try hard not to get stuck fixing everyone's old PC knowing they should really just go out and buy a new one.

I also try hard to avoid diagnosing all my relatives who think because I work for a hospital corporation in the medical field (they do kind of go together) that I must be know as much as any doctor (Ok - diagnosing the heart valve infection when the ER doctor thought it was a heart attack didn't help matters - I just got lucky...).

But I really just want to go fishing...

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Worked as a engineer for OEM alignment equipment, aka front end, headlamp, for Ford and DCX. If you drive a new style Dodge Ram, I design the controls that set the torison bars and the front end alignment. Got sick of living in hotels, in 2004, over 230 days out of town,  quit my job in Dec of 2004. Got a real stay at home job, currently work for MAC Valves in Wixom as a controls engineer, designing machines that we use to build valves and test. Great company to work for, and  I love being home to fish.

I am only 22 right now soon to be 23.  I attend Lawrence Tech University right now where I am almost done with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.  I spent my first year away at college at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.  I also am part owner of a Tree business with my father in the Oakland and wayne county area.  That keeps me pretty busy with work and school..  But I do manage a ton of time on the water.  This year I plan on fishing over 20 tournaments.

spinninbug

I work for a GMC Buick Pontiac dealer in Manistee,  I am the business manager, so what that means is I do all the financing, ext. service contract, on and on.  Before this I sold cars at a Dodge, Chrysler and jeep store.  I  worked very hard in the business to become that dealerships no 1 salesperson.

I met the love of my life about 7 years ago actually I've know him for 25 years.  He started me fishing then and I haven't looked back once.  Other than working and spending time with our 4 children and 5 grandchildren we are dedicated to the outdoors and hunt and fish every chance we get.

I would love to be able to afford to fish in the wba, but I don't see that in the near future.  Oh and I can and do drive the boat,  I was so scared when he first started teaching me but I now can do that and pull the boat and unload and load it.  He told me if I'm going to fish and be competative that I have to learn it's all part of it.

Just about the middle of February I start getting a little orney I guess you could say,  couldn't figure out why until one day I was walking through the livingroom and my husband was watch KVD catching smallies and it hit me I needed a fix and couldn't wait for soft water to get here,  we ususally steelhead fish until we can get the boat in the water but it's just not the same as a smallie fix for me.

Im a design engineer/cnc operator/floor leader for my fathers company.  I have been in the steel industry since i turned 17.  My father has been in it since 17 and my grandfather was in it for 40+ years before passing in 86.

Basically, we do steel shape burnouts.  It is a fairly simple process but a very important part of the steel and automotive industry.  I can burn as thin as .125"  and as thick as 20" steel.  It is not a very exciting job, but it pays the bills.  In these times i am just happy to be working.

Hey Dan, I have finally made it on.

I work for Tesco Groups in Auburn Hills.  I am a manager of a Mechanical Destop design department.  I have been int he field for about 19 years.

I also run the Motor City Inland Division for NBAA with Vic, Mike and Greg.

I am also on the Wonderland Pro-Staff so I am at most of the boat shows throughout the spring and I am heavily involved at my church.

I will be married 20 years this May and my oldest will be graduating and heading off to college in the fall.  I have two other youngin's, Klar (13) and Travis (9).  And both my wife and I turn forty this year.

It just doesn't get any better.
