Title: never in the right spot
Post by: Got Fish?? on December 04, 2010, 04:53:04 AM
I took the week before thanksgiving off and went to Kalkaska to deer hunt. Spent a lot of time in the woods, saw vary few deer. Since I've been back in Livonia, where I work for the parks department. I have seen two 10 point, one 8 point in my parks and just yesterday a six point ran in front of my pickup on six mile road. Never in the right spot!

once again I'm in one of my parks north of 5 mi west of Newberg, on Monday the 9th of Sept. I was fixing the play structure when two nice big bucks came walking  down the tree line. One was a vary big 4 point, the other a huge 8 point , with 8 to 10 inch tines.

As the 2013 deer season comes to an end. Nine nice deer fell to their fate, by autos in the city, where I work in the parks department. Several over 200 lbs. 5 bucks and 4 does. Some went to people who could use it, a few went to the needy. The population is vary large this year.

Sounds like you have a great job!!! I read on another thread you were retiring. Congrats

Glad to see other counties have an abundance of deer. Southwest Barry County was hit extremely hard by that fly disease last year. Very few deer have been taken here. My buddy had 97 dead on his acreage.

Hunt to live and live to fish. Enjoy your free time. You have earned it.

There's still one more day left of reg season though!.  Ain't them parks in the township? If so I'd carry a shotgun with a slug. That is if yer boss will let you like my boss does when we close down the course and are still working during reg gun season.  This is over in Bellaire

Have not seen a ton of deer this year so far out of the 10 gun blinds I have. Prolly 90% of the corn is still standing  up here.  They just won't come outa it.  Saw my first 2 bucks out hunting since 9:38 am Nov 15th 2005 . Of course, one was a fork spike at about 3 4 inches and a true spike hore with tines at least a foot long. No way was that a year old deer   . He was big in body and his neck was all swelled up. Almost convinces me the rut is still moving way up here.

With the new APR here them 2 spikes were so not nervous. They just barged in, ate some apples and split just as fast. Afterrrrrrrr standing broadside to me about 25 paces for what seemed like a half hour .  The shot here is only 25 paces. So close you could hear them chewing apples while looking straight at ya and not caring.

I'd post a picture of the view outa the blind, but I don't know how using windows 7 LOL

I live between 7 and 8  mile west of Merrimen. Sunday  mornning I got two blocks north of my house. When three nice 8 pointers crossed the road in front of  my f-150. Once more, never in the right place.
