Title: Latest build
Post by: Crookedneck on August 20, 2010, 04:51:59 PM
I built this rod for a local charity.  It will get raffled off in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for looking.

Looks great!  How long does it take to do an inlay like that?

Thanks for the comments!  I've seen some of your builds Dude, your decal work is top notch.  The aluminum reelseat is killer.  It is an Alps triangle Size 14.  I would usually use a 16.  But these seam a little larger in my opinion.  I think it helps with the sensativity, but not to sure it will be too comfortable in cold weather.

Cheetam the fish wrap took me about 4 or 5 hours.  I'm not the fastest but I'm getting faster.  It ended up being close to 12" long.

It is a little heavier than the graphite, as it is solid aluminum.  But, they are nice and give it that custom look that you can't get with a standard graphite.  They arent' cheap though either.  Not sure if you could flock it or not.

The Alps reel seat shown (a Grandt Design) is available on several of the higher end Grandt Rods including the Stealth and TiTech Titanium series. I like the reel seat because it secures the reel better than any other reel seat I have used. I am not concerned wth any weight disadvantage over graphite.

Nice build.

Are you saying that Grandt designed the Alps triangle seat?  Or just that Grandt uses them on some of there higher end rods?  Not sure why Grandt has anything to do with my build other than your comments turned attention from my build to Grandt.  Cool marketing ploy.  No hard feelings though!

This here is what I call a Crooked Neck Custom.  LOL!  I turned the cork myself, took a couple hours to turn out the 12" fish wrap.  All for a good cause, a local boys and girls fishing club.

Thanks for looking!

You were talking about the reel seat. I commented on the reel seat that was in your build. I also commented on your build. No ploy. I failed marketing 101. ;D

Like I said no hard feelings!

I'm sure ALPS (which is an Australian company I believe) would probably argue that the Alps triangle seat is a Grandt design.  But that is not my arguement to start.

I'm sure Grandt makes some really nice rods.  I'll never know though, because as you can see I make some sweet customs myself..
