I have the opportunity to finally take my Dad out fishing tomorrow becaue he barely ever has time to go. I want to take him somewhere where he can catch a lot of bass of decent size but we're not hawg hunting here. What are some suggestions for where to take him? I am located in Holland within 5 minutes of Lake Macatawa.
Drive up to White Lake.
Okay. I know it's after a front and the sun is going to be up. Good thing my depthfinder is broke because I'm sure they won't be deep under those conditions ::) Main lake weeds from what I've been able to gather so I'll try to find those. Thanks for the help I'll let you know how we do.
If the sun is up, the dock bite should be good. Don't need a depth finder for them either! ;)
Won't be hard to find weeds! Fish were being caught all over the entire lake this past weekend from what I gather by our other club members who were there. LOTS of 11-14 lb limits. We were 4th with 14.5. Winner had 16lbs and 2nd had 15+lbs. Best wishes!
You might consider Crockery Lake (west of sparta about 5-6 miles just off 13 mile rd.). All you need to do on that lake is fish the shoreline all the way around the lake... texas rigs, drop shot, jigs, and spinnerbaits have always produced well for me there.
After some helpful tips we have decided to fish on the Kalamazoo River. It is very close so we can have the most time on the water and I'm very excited to hopefully catch some smallies for once! I will post a report after work tomorrow night.
