Title: How's finshing in the lower Grand River
Post by: jiggerman on April 29, 2006, 09:39:42 PM
I haven't fished the lower Grand (Grand Haven area) in a long time, but I've seen some web posts that suggest it has a long way to go to get back to "the good old days".? ?Any truth in that rumor?  Jiggerman

I first fished the Grand sometime around 1980. I liked Spring Lake alot more. In 36 years there hasn't been anything to change my mind.

I would say the fishing is still a lot tougher for most people the last few years compared to the good old days. Still some nice bass caught. Spring Lake isn't any where near as good throughout the season now that the locals try to kill every weed in it every year.

The much lower water hasn't helped any of the bass anywhere on the system over there either.

Both the river and the bayous still have their really good days, just no where near as many for me - granted, I don't fish over there much now - 2 or 3 times a year maybe.
