Title: river report
Post by: macbass on April 18, 2010, 09:24:19 PM
here is a report for saturday 4 17 2010...we seen snow rain and sleet and a pretty steady 15 to 20 mph wind out of the north west.  we did manage to catch 8 walleye.  So all was not lost.  we were fishing in front of greatlakes steel and mud island. all the fish were caught on the wyandotte worm with a 3/4 ounce jig head tipped with a minnow and stinger hook...color of choice was pumpkin pepper and a black worm...here is a picture of 3 of the 8...

I was out Saturday as well but fishing south of the stacks.  Ended up with two walleyes, 20+ whitebass (yes already), 3 carp, 8 largemouth, 2 smallmouth, 1 catfish, and 1 sucker.  It was a fun day with alot of action but not my best day by far.

We went further up to US Steel and were marking firsh everywhere it seemed but got nothing, of course not a boat around us hit anything either.  Finally started to just drift down and ended-up hooking and loosing a nice one... >:(

We decided on a change of scenery and went downstream toward the Livingston.  No walleye but a nice little brown surprise!  Not exactly sure what is was, looked somewhat vaguely familiar, pretty sure I've seem one like it before, maybe this weekend my memory will clear.... ;D

Anyways, with the wind and waves up by 1600, we ran home to Wyandotte.

went below the stacks from 4-6:30 lost one walleye and caught 12 green fish.  Saw a couple boats with the nets out but no one was whacking them.  I can't wait for Saturday to put a hurting on all of the green fish!!

I wish I would have seen this earlier. I would love to hit the water with you River Rat. I work until 5am everyday, it would have been perfect. I have been out there twice, and have not seen a walleye yet. I did get a steelhead on Monday.

Had my worst day ever on the DR today....I tried all of the popular spots and a few not so popular from Erie Metro Park North to Fighting Island....
My first Skunk ever...I saw a few guys dipping nets but They were few and far between..Saw maybe 6 fish netted in 5 hours of fishing with  tons of boats around...

Thinking about going to DR Saturday any fishing report would be helpful. Coming from Cadillac hate to drive that far just to float around. Thanks !
