Jason Root wants me to fish the BASS Northern Division Open on the Detroit River with him. I was wondering how they compared to the Stren tournaments. I want to fish one of them but don't know which one.
Can you "Link" with the Opens??? I read the rules yesterday and didn't see anything about that..Also there doesn't seem to be any real Reward for fishing the full open series for the Cos like there is in Stren...In Stren you can qualify for the Cup as a Co
I would be willing to bet you will see some great Elite Sticks at the Detroit River open if there aren't any Scheduling Conflicts...Maybe even KVD.. ;D
A boat is first place what more can you ask for with a $300 entry. They used to have an open championship back in the day.

That is all well in good, but as we all know it is tough to win one,,,..It would be cool if they would reward consistency over the course of the whole series with a championship...JMHO....Obviously they are doing something right there seems to always be a waiting list for Cos...I may just lean more towards points races because of my background in other sports....
it cant be that hard if i almost won one. :) The thing is the entry is less than a stren and the payout is better. So there is some give and take.

Are you going to fish all 3 next year...I see in the rules to get early sign up you have to register for all 3......
It is definetly an affordable series....900 bucks in entries...
ya i plan on it. I fished all of them this year and ended up finishing like 22nd in points so i think i get prioty anyways. It seems like the coangler talent is slighty less than that of say the strens and even the bfls based on the stories (some funny, some not so funny) i ve heard from some of my friends that fished as boaters this year.
Is there a Wednesday night registration/pairing meeting.??..I read the rules and tried to find some info on the Open Results, but I couldn't find anything,...
I went to fish the one in Sandusky a couple weeks ago but unfortunately some boaters didn't show. So I had to pack my bags and go home but fortunately I got prefred registration and I'm already signed up as a boater for this event. I'm sick of leaving my fishing up to others and from now on I won't be doing any tourneys as a non-boater. Also yes wed. afternoon they have a pre-tourney meeting where you get paired up with your co for the next day.
Thanks for the info...Does BASS have "Boater/Co linking" for opens???
nope
just sign up early and you'll be fine.
