Title: Lake Erie
Post by: t-bone on September 08, 2009, 08:46:14 AM
Got out on Erie on Saturday morning. Lake was flat and the ride out to Colchester was smooth. We started shallow and didn't find anything except for a few sheephead. Found some fish in 10-15 fow and some in 15-20.

This was my first time I successfully leveraged my electronics and marked fish, then dropped on them and caught them. That really was a lot of fun. I caught two 3 lbers that way.

Charlie was throwing John Jeff Cheetam's Gobi colored crankbait and whacked a 4+. Gave us an awesome fight.

The bite died off when the breeze stalled and we tried a few other areas with no luck.

Huge algae bloom with a lot of the water looking like pea soup.

Had a yellow finch land in my boat in the middle of lake Erie. The bird hopped around chasing bugs and eating crumbs on the carpet. Checked out every inch of the boat going between legs, then decided to move on. Very strange.

John helped me design my logo for my company and did an awesome job with that, too.  John's a very talented guy.

No biggie Terry.  I got a good laugh from it.  I haven't had a chance to talk with Charlie yet, which crank was he using, the DD14 or the Rapala?

Jeff - It looked like the Rapala to me but now I'm gun shy...

He threw it for a while and I was drop shotting gulp minnows. Then he did some drop shotting too. Then said that he promised you he'd throw it. First cast with it and it got smoked.

We took some pictures with it but Charlie is old school so you'll have to wait for the pictures to get developed.
