Title: Lowrance HDS-5
Post by: River Rat on May 15, 2009, 01:05:10 PM
Has anyone tried this unit yet and what are your thoughts?  I have a chance to upgrade for a more than reasonable $ figure but I don't know how hardcore I really need to be. I like the idea of using the side imaging especially to see the river bed in so many different spots.

I have an HD-7, good unit but... the sonar needs some work.  I've played with all the settings, multiple transducers and my old 334c is way better.  I barely ever mark archs and the bottom is mostly black.  I've spent the last 4 weeks playing with every setting on the thing with no luck.  Hopefully the next software update will take care of this.  I've been using lowrances for 10 years and this is the first problem I've had like this.
