Title: Good Article by Boyd Duckett

This a really good article on being prepared.  Boyd does a great job being mentally prepared for tournaments.

I don't know about all of you but I have been paying a lot of attention to the mental side of the game.  Mechanics and delivery are important but I don't think pitching and flipping win tournaments.  Making good decisions, being focused and good preparation is more important.  I don't think you can win any event if you are not mentally in the game or if you don't know the playing field.

One thing I always keep in mind.  I heard KVD once say that "he controls the variables he can control."  Meaning, equipment in good working condition, new line, baits retied, everything in order and ready to go.  Don't waste time messing with tackle on the water have it ready the night before.  Good preparation allows him to focus on catching fish.

Reminds me of a quote that I have followed/preached in the Military and in alot of sports..

"Having the will to win is important...But having the will to prepare is Vital"....
