Poll
Question:
Pick your preferred 2008 Fall DK Open Date?
Option 1: Saturday September 20, 2008
votes: 13
Option 2: Saturday October 4, 2008
votes: 13
Here are the two dates that will work best for the 2008 Fall DK Open. Please vote if you are fairly certain you want to participate in a west side open. See the lake choices in another poll.
I guess I could miss the home game vs. Iowa, but I can't miss the MSU vs. Notre Dame on the 20th in EL.
I've got tickets to the OSU vs MSU on 10/18 so either one is good for me. I checked 9/20 though
Can't make either... have events both of those days.

Sorry to hear that.
As far as MSU, a day of fishing is always better than 3 hours of MSU football... then you can be surprised later too, finding out when you get home if they won or not?

Don't tell me you live in Lansing and have a pet Wolverine!! ;D
I can't make the 20th, already have that day booked but the 4th of October is open for us. Ohhh I really want to fish this!
Have to work on Oct. 4. Will cancel going to a pig roast/party/jam to fish on Sep. 20.
There a charity tournament on hardy pond sept 20 Kellogsville sportspersons club.
looks like i'm out for both dates. leave for manitoba on the 20th and will be in hoosier land on the 4th for my gramps 90th birthday :o
figures i would miss the west side one! :-\'
oh well see you guys at st. clair next year.
I'd say the 4th would be a better date due to the fact that the Kellogsville event is looking like it's going to draw a pretty good crowd again this year. Right now I know it will be 20 boats minimum... probably be 30+ boats by that date. Last year we drew 27 boats for this event.
Put me down for the 4th.
I see the 4th is gaining on the 20th. I need the 4th to win! My sister-in-law is getting married on the 20th and I have to be there. I would skip if I could but needles to say that isn't an option. If anyone that voted for the 20th and doesn't really care then change your vote to the 4th! I would really hate to miss the Open. Come on Oct 4th...you can do it!
Cy
i had orignally voted for the 20th.. so you can subtract my vote.

Alright! 10 to 9...we're gettin' close.
I voted for the 4th. I have a previous commitment on the 20th that I can't break.
Willie
For Cy and the possibility I might have to fish the BAU second chance on sept 20th I voted for oct 4th.
Won't be able to make either of those dates. 20th sister's over the hill 50th bd party 4th upnorth bowhunting. Waiting till spring for the next one.

Thanks, T! I knew I could count on someone. :D
Change to the 4th and miss opening weekend of bowhunting? I could probably be talked into it I guess. Besides, just found out my wealthy neighbor whose land I hunt on just 'sold the farm' to someone who is also a major hunter. Looks like my bowhunting is in jeopredy anyways. Might as well go fishin!

Does that mean that you are not planning to fish on the 4th?

Fasttrack, did you already vote the 20th and you are thinking about changing or did you vote for the 4th?
Cameraguy, I think he is saying he might have a tournament already scheduled for the 20th, so the 4th would be his choice.
I had a feeling there would not be a rock-hard consensus, but I think I can pick a lake and date this weekend.
Alright, Ovid again!! ;D ;D
make thet Paw Paw!
I don't care what lake it is...White, Hardy, Paw Paw or Ovid...I'm good with that. The date is the hard part. I think Oct 4th is the obvious choice but that's because it is my only option. I find it interesting that we are tied on lakes and dates at this point. The date is tied because you can subtract "thedude's" vote of the 20th. I guess we will see what happens in a couple more days.
My vote is for the 20th if it's NOT on Hardy (due to the other tourney there which I also hoped to fish). If it IS on hardy then I vote for the 4th. Is that as clear as mud? Bottom line: I will try my best to be there whichever date is chosen.
This tournament needs to be on Erie, October 4th. Just my 2cents. :P :-\'
BD ;D

Okay, Mr. Kimmel. I think it's time to pick a date and lake. I need to know whether I am eating pig or going fishing.
Alright Dan...Oct 4th, White Lake. ;D It looks good to me. Yes say the word and we can start the boater/non-boater sign up sheet.
Really needs to be the 20th.
It's just to hard to set a hook from a tree stand.

I hear ya Rick, but I look at it like this. Bow hunting lasts 6 weeks and comes every year. The DK Open last only one day and only comes twice a year. There is plenty of time to bow hunt! I also heard that there is some type of firearm hunting that ends right before bow opens? If this is true, bad for bow hunters.
Cy
Yes, Cyrus, there is an antlerless-only gun season. I think it is the 18th-22nd. Will be interesting to see how that stirs up the woods prior to bowhunting. Nice way to fill the freezer though so ya can be a little more choosy during bow season if ya wish. Bottom line: there is deer hunting on both possible dates for the Open. But as you stated, there is lots of time to deer hunt. I also agree that it should be decided soon - I am already being pushed to make plans for upcoming weekends and am trying to keep both dates open as long as I can.....
Marc
P.S. - Are you considering fishing Rich's Charity event on Hardy on 20th? I am still looking to hook up with a partner....
The youth hunt is the 27 and 28th too, so all kinds of hunting going on before the opening day of bow season. Lots of time to hunt, only one day for the fall DK open.
I'm still pulling for the 4th we can't make the 20th at all. We don't care what lake though. Although I'm partial to Hardy. Never been on white but I will go there if that's where it's at.
