MDNR NewsBurt Lake State Park boating access site to temporarily close for ramp replacementThe Burt Lake State Park boating access site, located in Tuscarora Township in Cheboygan County and administered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, will close temporarily starting Monday, September 10, 2018, for ramp replacement.
The project will include the replacement of two existing ramps and the addition of a third. Some minor dredging also will take place. The project is expected to take roughly five weeks, with an anticipated completion date of Monday, October 15.
Other boating access sites in the area provide access to Burt Lake, including:
- Maple Bay boating access site, located off Maple Bay Road in Brutus Township.
- Tuscarora Township boating access site, located off Nabanois Road and launching directly into the junction of the Indian River and Little Sturgeon River.
This project is partially funded through the Michigan State Waterways Fund, which is a restricted fund derived primarily from boat registration fees and a portion of Michigan's gas tax that supports the construction, operation and maintenance of public recreational boating facilities. The project will be overseen by staff in the DNR's Grayling Construction Unit.
