**Due to a lack of Legislators signing up this spring the 2018 event has been canceled - thank you for your interest - we'll try again next spring when there aren't elections to deal with**
Once again, I'm looking for more boater volunteers due to increased interest in our 2018 Michigan Legislatives Sportsmen's Caucus Lake St. Clair bass fishing outing on Monday, May 14. More people want to sample the great spring bass fishing on the big lake, and it seems the interest is increased since we didn't get to fish last spring! We are hoping for no unfortunate circumstances as we had last year forcing us to cancel our 2017 event.
How it works is we provide volunteer boaters to take out MLSC members (State Senators, State Representatives and staff), MDNR and MUCC people catch-and-release bass fishing on Lake St. Clair. We meet between 8am and 8:30am to match everyone up and have a quick meeting. We launch and fish the morning from around 9am until noon. Then we gather for a meet-and-greet luncheon with between the boaters and the VIPs. This is a great time to talk about things that are important to you directly with our elected officials and the MDNR!!
I will probably need at least 35 boats to cover all the MLSC members, MDNR, other VIPs and media. Some may have to take 2 anglers out unless we get an excess of boater volunteers. Odds are the MLSC and other anglers will not have life jackets or fishing tackle so they will need to borrow from you, the boater volunteers.
We working on the launch site and the lunch arrangements for the 2018 outing. That will be announced as plans come together.
If you can volunteer for this important event please let me know - post on here or Contact Dan (http://glbass.com/contact). The 2015 and 2016 events went very well earning us lots of good will, and we now have a number of new Legislators!

Okay! I'll add you to my list when I get back. Thanks.
Count me in as a boater, tentatively. I will confirm asap.
Willie
I will 'tentatively' add you to the list. Hope you can make it.
I am not going to be able to attend. I have an unexpected new job and I need to be there.
Dan I will gladly take some representatives out to fish the World's best smallmouth fishery! I'll talk to you at the MadWags open on Clair this year!
Okay - thanks for the updates. I still have some work to do on this and need more boaters!! Please share with anyone you can think of - thanks!
sign me up as a boater.
Okay. Thanks. I'm hoping for an update on Wednesday.
Is this even going to happen?
Dan sent a letter around saying it is CANCELLED. No one signed up I guess.
Apparently the problem is having this event at this time in an election year where there will be lots of turnover due to term limits as even after working the bushes hard we ended up with only 1 Legislator signed up. That one canceled yesterday when I called him to let him know we were not having an actual event but would be happy to take him fishing.
So the 2018 MLSC Lake St. Clair bass fishing outing is canceled. Thank you for your offers to help.
I'll try again next spring when we will have a lot of new legislators.

Terry, I apologize. Somehow I didn't have your name on the right list so you didn't get the email yesterday about the cancellation. Probably while I was copying and pasting, updating who was still able to help verses who had canceled I accidentally deleted something I shouldn't have. Sorry, Dan
