Bass Tournament East
Saturday May 5
8 AM until 2 PM - please arrive no later than 7:15 AM
Lake St Clair - Michigan waters only
Harley Ensign MDNR Ramp - end of South River Rd
Entry Fee $5 per angler 13 and older (required)
Big Bass $2 per angler 13 and older (required)
anglers under 13 fish for free*
Open to all registered GreatLakesBass.com members.1
This is a paper tournament - catch, measure & release.*
IMPORTANT: Each boat will need a Largemouth Bass Weighmaster Golden Rule designed for catch and release with weight conversion based on length.2
Format is draw tournament with boater and nonboater fishing as a team. 5 biggest bass between the two or three team members will be counted to determine finish.
*Biggest non-bass fish brought in to weigh wins the coveted BIG UGLY prize! Fish must be in season and legally caught to count. Anglers under 18 must be fishing with a parent or legal guardian. Contact me with questions.
1Please note:
Family members may be able to fish together. Please contact me directly by PM (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=1), phone 810-433-BASS (2277) or email (http://glbass.com/contact) to arrange this. I would prefer family members 18 and older be a registered member of GreatLakesBass.com. I will not request that for family members under 18 and prefer not to have family members under 13 register due to federal privacy regulations. If you have a family member that wants to fish but not be a member, please contact me privately prior to the event. Youth 17 years or younger must be participating with a parent or legal guardian. Exceptions to this will need to be discussed with me in advance. Use the contact information above please. Thank you.
2 If you don't have the correct paper tournament Weighmaster Golden Rule board (available from Gator) you can use a regular board. Measure the bass based on the farthest line the tail touches or goes over. Bring the board in to me and I can come up with a closest conversion in weights for you to finish tallying your weights - you probably won't get as much weight credit fyi. Please try to get the Weighmaster board from someone or some place. I don't have any more extras and can't buy them at a discount anymore.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Nonboaters please bring life jackets to make sure we have enough. Life jackets must be worn zipped and/or buckled whenever the gas motor is running. Boater must use working kill switch when gas motor is running.
No live bait. Artificials only.
I try to make sure there are as few boats as possible with no one that knows the water. I can have a mini-seminar before we launch on where to fish for people who ask for it - DON'T BE SHY!
This event is all about everyone catching some fish, having fun and getting to know each other, and also to honor the memory one of our greatest members - David 'MadWags' Wagensomer!!! Thank you for being members of GreatLakesBass.com.
If you have anything new or like new you'd like to donate for prize giveaways, please contact (http://glbass.com/contact) me.
Post that you are attending, and if attending as a boater or nonboater in this thread please. It is easier for me to keep track if your status is in this thread rather than only through some other contact means like PM, phone, email, etc. Thanks!
The measuring board you need is the Gator Grip Golden Rule Weighmaster Largemouth Bass 22.5 inch GG-51 (the GG-50 is the same board but costs a little more because it is a kit with paper slips). Unfortunately, Bass Pro and eBay are both sold out on them right now but I will keep checking to see if they become available again. You do want to order them early since they take a little longer to come in usually (drop shipment). You may find them somewhere else and I believe you can order them directly from Gator Grip if all else fails.
Steve Smith aka Dartag Boater.
Count me in. Woohoo, I'm already off work. Boater
Mike Lohn aka 21XDC in as a boater.
I'm in as a boater and I'm checking with my sister-in-law on whether she will be in as my non-boater.
If you haven't entered yet get over to the link below and guess the winning weight for the classic. Ties will be broken by who is closest. If no one has the winner the closest angeler guessed will win a Huge Prize Package. Free Entry, tackle and other items.
Ranger and Skeeter owners will win extra cash.

I will go. Non boater.
Count me in as a non-boater please...
FrickerDude IN as BOATER!
Just like everything else I try to plan lately, I won't know if I have the day off till the Thursday before.. If I can get it off, I'll be there with my boat. I'd hate to miss another one.

Also going to bring a youngster on the boat - Jacobb Khatib - loves fishing and has always wanted to fish St. Clair
Okay. Thanks for all the updates! Keep them coming.
I'm in as a boater.I will have a partner, not sure who yet. I will post as soon as I know.
Count me in as a boater, tentatively. I will confirm asap.
Willie
My wife Tanya is in as a nonboater with me.
Boater if its nice out my wife will be with me also
Might be a husband/wife event...? Which is fine with me, bring anyone who wants to fish. The more, the merrier. We just have to figure out the food.
Count me in as non-boater for now.
We need to get this going a little better as it is sneaking up on us!
Does anyone want to do something about food?
I'm nobody............ But I think $5 pizzas would be the easiest w/o much cost to everybody.
I prefer Steak and Lobster. But pizza also works. Wasn't that what we did last year.
Pizza seems to work pretty good.
Pizza is easy with not much fuss, easy clean-up, etc. If someone would like to bring something else I am sure it would find a belly. Deserts welcome also.. :)
21XDC has graciously invited me to fish with him this year. So we will be there. Thanks Mike.
Less than a month away. Hope the snow melts in time.
cap'n charlie and son'nlaw bob kline, gonna whip some T Bone butt.
Trying like mad to make it. Not sure if I can walk by that time though, so I would show up that morning if I can make it
Well... you might want to let us know you're coming so we don't leave you on shore?!? Whether you can walk or not I'm betting you can't walk on water... ;D
I walk on water every winter Dan lol. It's the drive with my foot the way it is and not sure if I will still be using crutches or not. I just got the ok to start putting some weight down on my foot with small increases weekly. If I do come. I will probably be there before anyone else as I prefer to sneek into town before the world wakes up.
Unfortunately I have to back out. I will be working Saturdays for pretty much the rest of the year.
I will be fishing with Tdroulliard this year. I don't think it will be won in Muskamoot Bay with this extended winter we have seen in SE Michigan.
18 days to go. Going to be interesting this year. Probably not going to need Bed Fishing Gear.
Will we be dodging ice floes?
I'm in as a boater
Ice flows are gone... (from St. Clair I mean, not necessarily from everywhere to the north).
TheFishinPollock - walk on water in August and please send me the video! We will split any earnings...
Count me in as a boater and I vote for pizza delivery.
Okay - thanks!
I think we've settled on the pizza delivery idea by now.
I'm in as a boater. This snuck up on me because I haven't been checking the forum lately. Maybe a PM to all the members so that the ones who get email notifications get an email... might drum up more interest. Just a thought. Anyway, I'll be there as long as the shakedown cruise goes well tomorrow. And if I survive my 16 year olds road test tomorrow. YIKES!
Hoping to bring my Bro to fish with me.
OH NO!!! Teenage road test!! Will pray for you!!
I do probably need to get the word out a little more. All the email companies are getting so rough with their spam filters and blocking that sending a lot of email messages at one time is really risky. I would probably get treated as spam and a lot of the messages would be blocked, or I could get blacklisted. I should get my butt around to creating an email list through a bulk email provider. Just haven't got around to measuring costs and time resources to do so yet.
Looks like a lot more boaters than non.
I'll fish by myself. I don't like any of you anyway. LOL
Is there a boater nonboater list yet?
Sorry guys, but I will not be able to grace you all with my fantastic and awesome presence again this year. The snow really put a damper on me going outside and advancing my foot healing along with PT having been totally screwed up by my insurance company and has yet to start after almost 3 weeks . I cannot make the drive or get around without crutches and am still very weak.
I am putting my bet down on Frenchfry to whoop on all of you with Mike L coming in a close second. ( don't let me down you 2!)
count me in as a boater - fishing with Mojo. I will graciously take a 2nd non boater if you need me to.
So if my counting is correct we have 7 boaters with partners already, 7 boaters and 4 (counting DK) non boaters.
I guess I will be a non boater this year ;D
I'll be taking mike s.
Detroit1 will be riding with me. Sure hope he knows where the fish are.
Depending on if Maize n Blue gets his boat ready I will be fishing with him. Calling for an east wind that day so a nice deep V to fish from ;D
I heard that the oldest team gets a 5# BONUS! If this is true, Steve and I have that locked up.....

Plus I have a Ranger which is the slowest boat. But it knows how to catch fish.
Looking at the reports it's going to take 45 pounds to win. Everyone is catching 9 pounders out there.
I will do a list on Wednesday. I will be away from computers a lot the next 3 days. Some 'projects' I'm working on...

steves not that old, I have him by several years. So I guess it will depend how old you are, lol
If I fish by myself, I get to double my age.

Sorry about the Ranger / Skeeter money.
Can i get in on the boater side, my schedule has freed up.
i'm in, boater 8)
I'm out for the mad wags
If I can shake this cold the wife and I will drop in at 9 mile for a few.... that is if, sorry guys the boat is still stored anyhow
:-[ bummer, get well my friend, get well
thanks Bob, I'm on some heavy meds (NyQuil & Codine cough-syrup) the end of the month is coming quick you know....
If it's not too late , I would like to jump in as a non-boater for Saturday.
you can also have me fish alone, as will be watching windfinder https://www.windfinder.com/#3/52.5170/13.4000
i do not want to go out in wind like we had last year, thanks
Right now they are calling for N/E winds at 9 with gusts to 18.

its a michigan crap shoot could be dead calm too
Yup, yesterday they were calling sat at a west wind at 6mph. Probably be snowing Sat it is Michigan!!!
NOAA says S/E 5-10 for Saturday. Looking at all the photos and reports I would say it will take 25-30 pounds to win. Unless someone catches 5 of the 9.5 pounders caught last week. That would be 47.5 pounds.

Sorry guys. Change of plans. Won't be making the Madwags smallie fest. Hope you all have a blast. Sorry for the late notice.
Weather is looking better all the time. But it is early.

Sorry. Leave it to the preacher to be completely inappropriate. LOL :o
Finally got confirmation. # day weekend. I will be there. I will take a non boater if they don't mind me playing with all my new gadgets half the day. This will be my first time on the water this year.
i'm out please scratch me off the list
Glad it isn't today. It is Howling here already. Supposed to calm down tonight. Packed my Flipping rods in case we end up in the canals.
Where's the list?
capt charlie and his crew of Big BAss Bobby and rapid cast Szyd will be there to accept the trophy. Capt is bringing donuts for AM gathering.
