Title: Anyone running a Legend V20 bass boat?
Post by: LennyB on January 15, 2017, 07:55:56 AM
Hello everyone,

I was looking at all the boats at this years Novi fishing show and was checking out the Legend V20 as well as all the other 20 and 21 footers. Looks like a good quality rig and I really liked the look and layout. The price is right in there with the rest of the top end brands also.

My question is, has anyone really ran one one the big water that can attest to the durability. I here the horror stories about cracking on the BBC forum but just wonder if any guys on here have any experience with them or other Legend models. I currently run a Ranger and love it. It has proved the test of time. Also to be fair, most of the other major brands have their share of complaints on the BBC forum also. I'd like to step up from my 185 Ranger to a bigger rig and would consider the Legend V20 but not sure of it's long term durability.

Thanks for your input.

Coop has one. Hes around here somewhere. I took a brief ride in his V20 on GT Bay in some good chop. Ran smooth, fast to plane out, damm thing has a deck ya could mount a 50 on .   The guy that runs my local club is a rep for them. Has the 21 Alpha. Swears by it and it looks pretty good as it zooms by me every event.

You might want to also check out the new Charger 210. It is a ChampioN from the build schematics to the finished product. Little less  in price .  Price ranges start out around 64 and goes up to about 68 . It is not a speed demon by any means, but champ hulls were never meant for bullet type speeds. The are also fully custom. Any color combination you can imagine they will make it happen.

Probably the 2 top big water rigs around

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to keep my eyes open for an a good used 211 Alpha. It seems to have more of a V bottom for rough water. I checked out the V20 at the Novi show and they are a beautiful looking boat and the construction looked solid also. Going to go with a used one though. New boat prices are crazie!!!

I don't think you could go wrong with any of the newer boats these days.  Opinions usually are based on brand loyalty.   I am a Ranger guy and think there quality is second to none.  I fish out of a lot of different brands and like all of them.   The price is what scares me.  Pay that Huge money to fish 4 months a year in Michigan.

I agree. I looked at all of them at the Novi show and thought they all, for the most part, offered good products. The price however, as you say, is scary. I remember going on a tour of the Triton factory when it was still in Tennessee and the guy that was taking me through the factory told me there was just a couple hundred dollars difference in materials between the 20 and 21 footer, but they had to charge considerably more for the bigger model or nobody would buy the smaller one. The labor in building both is basically the same.

Not sure your time frame.  If you are considering a pre owned boat and are waiting I would check out some of the Pro Staff boats.   They will be fully equipped and the later in the year you wait the price will drop.  A lot of pro's are on a plan where they get a boat and deep discounts on equipment.  The catch is they have to sell it within a year or finance it.  Most sell them and get a new one.

True.  was thinking about my pontoon.

My Ranger is about 6 months.   My aluminum is in from Ice out till freeze.   Keeps this warm weather up it won't be long.   Good to have lots of boats.
