Title: Winterizing your boat, or waiting?
Post by: djkimmel on November 03, 2016, 05:54:06 PM
With all this warm weather we've had I just wondered how many of you are delaying winterizing the boat? It seems like many are still getting out! Good luck - the fishing has been odd on some lakes but some bass are always biting!

I am delaying mine.  I go to Florida next week for a few days.  Hopefully I will get a few more outings in when I come back.  Although if the long rang forecast looks bad on Monday I may shrink wrap it before I go.  Still have the aluminum boat to fish my lake until the ice freezes.  Last year I had to break ice to get the hoist out.

I'll probably be winterizing mine Monday or Tuesday. I tend to like to do it when the weather is a little warmer rather than colder.

Mine goes in next week for winterization then home to yank the plate and motor , splashwell trim, rear eye hooks, splashwell and main brass drain inserts and all through hull fittings. Then its 4-5 weeks with an infrared lamps to dry out the water intrusion into the transom.

I was going to winterize mine last weekend, but decided to hold off.  I'm very glad I did because this Saturday I am going to be fishing my first tournament in two years.  Hoping to maybe do the same on Sunday.  I'll winterize the boat next weekend if the weather looks like its going downhill.

I'm a little south of you guys but I haven't really considered winterizing my boat.  Saturday the high is supposed to be 64.  Next week I am headed to So IL for some largemouth fishing.  I am already thinking about what I am going to be doing over Thanksgiving weekend.  Last weekend the Lake Michigan temps were 58.  I think I have close to a month left.

Some good answers! Good luck keeping your boat ready. I still have some fishing in me too depending on what Derek does locally and who knows what else (depending on some of you nice anglers :D !!) Enjoy what you can when you can and winterize a little later I say!

i don't winterize mine other than make sure all the water gets drained from nooks and crannies on the last few outings.

That's a workable plan for being prepared for any possibility.

Mine goes into storage before November so all winterized. Someone take me fishing please. I haven't been out in at least a month and something feels... off...
