Title: Grand River
Post by: dashaver63 on July 11, 2007, 01:01:25 PM
Does anyone have directions to the Wal-Mart and ramp? Mapquest directions usually take me way out of the way.

The mapquest directions are pretty accurate for the ramp and Walmart...I know what you are saying though...
The Walmart is basically at the end of 96 as you come into Muskegon and the ramp is south of 96 east of Grand haven...
I have never been to this ramp, but I did a Mapquest for it and checked it out on my county maps and it looked pretty accurate...I filed the directions away and don't have them at work so I can't give you specifics..
I am staying in Allendale which is about 11 miles from the ramp and 30 miles from Walmart.

Here is the way I would go:

Riverside Park from Grand Rapids and east:
I-96 toward Muskegon, get off at 68th Ave and go south to Warner.  Head west on Warner and follow it through the curves to 104th Ave.  Turn to the North and take it until it dead ends into Cedar, turn right and the launch will be on your left.

Wal-Mart on Sherman from Riverside Park:
There are 2 ways to get there neither of them that good!

1. You can go back the way you came to I-96 and head toward to Muskegon.  Merge onto US-31 North, take that to Sherman and head East a short way.

2. You can also go south down 104th to Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) and go west to US-31.  Head north on US-31 toward Muskegon and take it to Sherman.

I don't know what way is faster.  I would think I-96.

There may be some rooms available at the sleep inn suites in Allendale if anyone is looking.  According to mapquest they are 11 miles from the ramp.
I don't know anything about them, but they were the only place that I could find a room that was close that wasn't priced out of this world..I think it was 69 bucks.

Coopersville is really close to the ramp.  I am staying at the Rodeway in Coopersville.  $58 a night for a double/non-smoking.
