Title: June 30 report
Post by: Revtro on July 01, 2007, 02:15:25 PM
Got out with the Mrs. yesterday.  It could not have been a more perfect day to be out on the water.  The temps were comfortable and the fish were plentiful.  I wasn't worried about tournament practicing, I just wanted my wife to catch a bunch.  So I took her to a spot that has been on fire all week and we loaded the boat.  By 9am, we had already caught about 20 bass, including about 6 keepers.  We checked a few spots in the channels just to see if anything was starting to occur there.  Nothing doing.  We went back out onto the main lake and fished a spot known for rock bass and small fish.  It lived up to it's reputation with about 10 small fish in about a half hour.  She had a blast just catching them.  I did get one nice one off this spot that went about 4lbs which seems typical of that area... a "one fish" kind of spot.

Here's the deal... ALL our fish came on the 2.5 inch dropshot tube.  I've been talking about it lately on GLB and it was the real deal again yesterday.  I couldn't get bit on tubes dragging the bottom because as soon as they hit the bottom they picked up weeds and gunk.

All in all a fun day with our best 5 going about 15.5 lbs.  Not a great "weight" day, but a ton of fun.

And a big thanks to bshaner.  It was a great to meet up with you and your wife for lunch.  We really enjoyed getting to know you both a bit.  Looking forward to next time!
