Me too.  Steve is a real down to earth, great guy who seems like he would do anything for anyone, anytime.  I've gotten to know him a bit over the years fishing some of the tournaments.  I've never heard him say a bad word, nor have I ever heard anyone speak poorly of him.  Last time I talked to him was because I couldn't remember who "Ste" was in my phone.  So, I called it and it was Steve.  He was in Branson vacationing, on his way back from the Ranger plant.  We chatted for a few minutes and that was that.  I bet he makes the top 10 in the FLW.

Very cool.  He's from my home town, or I'm from his home town!  Best of all I dont think I arrested him or any of his family while I was a cop there.  That's a bonus.  Can't wait to gain some of his knowledge!!  You can't argue with his success!!

Yes, Steve Clapper has won more money on the big water than almost anyone I know of. Every tourney on Erie or anyother big water he fishes, he'll have a top 5 at least. I know he also make long runs for his fish if he has too. 2 years ago I believe when the Everstart had there first one out of Cleveland, he was still runnung to Pelee, and it wasn't the best weather either. I hope I get the chance fish with him sometime, I just want to see the man at work.

I have followed steve for awhile and one thing he has done for me is show that this is not just a young mans sport, if you have the time to pre-fish, you can win. I always judged how well I was doing in a BFL as to were I fell in place to Steve or D.Rowe 8)

I met Steve for the first time on Saturday prior to blast off.  What a gentleman.  Genuinely nice guy.  I can't imagine anyone will have anything negative to say about him.  I hope to talk to him more in the future even if it's just to shoot the bull.

I was LUCKY to draw Steve in a BFL. I thought I new how to drop shot until the master showed me what it was about. We made the long ride to Steve's area of choice. I caught a "big" 14" smally Steve catches a 4 lb.
Then the lesson started, He showed me how I should be rigging the drop shot and then the fun started. I think Steves limit was 19 or 20 lbs that day, I finished with 4 for just under 14lb. the last 3 avg. about 4 lb just ran out of time for the fifth.
If your ever around Steve and he is talking LISTEN he is the master. I can't wait to read what Steve has to say.

I been looking forward to hearing something from steve since clappers corner was started. I understand he is a busy man but is there anything to look forward to in the near future. One post thanking everyone for there support was nice but I hope to hear some details on his FLW win or some info on fishing Erie.

He was on "Reel Chat" on FLWoutdoors.com.  He was very responsive and forthcoming with his tactics.  Look it up on there.  It's a good read and wish I had been there for the live version.

Such a genuine guy.

With his schedule, it's understandable.  I'm certain he still had a lot of demands on his time from the FLW win.  I'm guessing with a Sandusky open last weekend, Wonderland's tourney this weekend and the Detroit River Stren to follow, he won't be able to get online for another week.  His boat is well equiped, but I don't think he has a water proof laptop on a Ram mount...yet.   ;D

Nope! And he had the Sandusky BFL on Saturday. He's been one busy angler lately. We did talk briefly yesterday at the weigh in.

I have no more tournaments for the summer, so I should be doing some major catch up (my poor boat and house need some serious attention too) on the web site. Steve is really into this idea of a section of information and reports here on GreatLakesBass.com, and has nothing but nice things to say for our community (which is why he is willing to provide some good info to us all).

Dan,  Just set up a Jott (http://jott.com/) account for Steve and he can phone in his correspondence. ;)

It's pretty slick.  Also works good for on-water note taking...  Just make a phone call and it sends and email with the text to you.

I'll have to take a look at that... so much technology, so little time.
