Title: St Clair - Big Bag
Post by: Revtro on June 05, 2007, 02:28:03 PM
Got out the other day on St. Clair and found some new rock piles off the Mile Roads.  Normally you won't win a tourney off the Mile Roads, but man do I wish it would have been a tourney day.  A friend and I went out for 3 quick hours before I had to head out of town.  We got to an area to note that the water was crystal clear and we could see all kinds of rock piles.  So we set up shop and started fishing.  WOW, what happened next was amazing for that area.  We managed at least 35 fish in under 3 hours with our best 5 going around 19lbs.  In case you think I'm exaggerating, check out this one SensaiSteve caught that went 5lbs even.

We threw back lots of 3 lbers that wouldn't have helped our weight.  I got a nice 4lb Largemouth and several 3.5 lb Smallies.  It was one of the better days I've ever had fishing the Mile Roads.  I know that pattern won't hold up, but it was fun while it lasted.

All our good fish came on some form of green tube.  They would not chase shad baits.  We threw jerkbaits, lipless cranks, shad colored tubes, drop shots, etc.  Green tubes were the deal.  It was overcast and the water temps were over 70.  All our good fish came in 7.5 FOW around rocks.
