Title: Bass Fishing Games
Post by: Bulletproof on January 29, 2006, 04:46:32 PM
Alright maybe I have too much time on my hands lately but have been playing a couple bass video games for PS2.  They have some decent concepts out there but none did I find really left me saying great game, very realistic, etc.

They have come a long ways since Black Bass.  Although I did enjoy it and remember fondly playing it for many hours at a time.

Then there was Super Black Bass, pretty good game for the time as well.

The newer games are good, but when will they come out with one that is very realistic and models the tournament setting to a tee.  I may be dreaming.  It's not a bad way to beat these tough months of waiting though.

So my question is what games have you guys played that you liked and why?

I'll keep you posted if I come across something good in the future.

I am not sure there will ever be an acceptable electronic version of fishing, let alone tournament fishing.  To correctly match a tournament would require sitting in front of your computer for 8 hours and spending several hours of non-catching time as you search for a bass.  I can't see myself sitting here pressing buttons for hours waiting for an imaginary fish to bite and never get to feel the tug on the line.  It might be my attitude though, because I have never gotten into video games.  I did get talked into playing one with my nephew though and it scared the $H#! out of me when the game controller started vibrating in my hand when I ran into a wall.  I couldn't believe the realistic look and feel, but I just don't have the patience for them.

I've got Mark Davis ProBass Challenge for the PS2.  its pretty good, like you said helps break up the winter a little bit...the Skeeter trailer at Novi was pretty cool although Savage beat me with an 18lber!!!  Dare to dream!!

I did play a PS2 game that I rented a few years back, I think it was called Master Bass or something..but it had a tournament format, you left the launch, driving the boat to your selected destination, (and it would let you run aground and hit things if you steered it that way)  then you fished and had to make it back to the correct check-in point or you got DQ'd...  I'll have to seacrh a bit for the name on the internet..i had kind of forgotten about it until this post,,thanks..

Bullet,

I have BASS Strike for the PS2 and it is a pretty good game, I would recommend it.  I also have the Rapala Pro Fishing for Xbox and it is a terrible game, I would not reommend it.

Sega Bass Duel for PS2.  You can fish head to head.  Too bad it doesn't use a reel type controller.  But it's fun when you've got nothin' else to do.  I'm not much of a gamer, but I'll play this one every once in a while.

I have the Sega Bass fishing duel,  its a great game.  My fiance and i play often.  Sometimes we go head to head for articles of clothing.  SHe smokes me most of the time.  The only thing she throws is a white spinnerbait.  I like to mix it up a bit and it costs me everytime.

Yeah Bass Strike is probably the best game as far as being realistic that I have played.  Keep in mind I'm not a gamer freak in any fashion but I do enjoy the fishing/hunting games during these winter doldrums.  the sega bass duel is nice to especially if you can win in a tournament type situation that poorboy describes.

I have a gamecube system.  I have two bassfishing games.  They are Top Angler and Mark Davis Pro Bass Challenge.  Both games are pretty good but there is nothing better than the real thing.

I also use Trophy Bass 4 on my PC.  Trophy Bass 4 was not made for XP but it works.  I had to do a little "tweaking" to my system to get it to work.....but it works and it works great.  This has always been my favorite fishing game to play but it doesn't substitute for the real thing.
