Title: Another senseless tragedy
Post by: River Walker on August 05, 2014, 08:43:12 PM
I just heard from a relative that lives in Algonac that two people were killed and three more injured in a boat collision on the south channel near Harsens.A cabin cruiser was struck by a drunken idiot in a 25' Baja. The two who died and the others injured were all on the cabin cruiser-naturally.A witness at the scene said the Baja was going at a high rate of speed and ran right over the top of the cabin cruiser shearing the bridge.A 68 year old man and a 68 year old woman needlessly lost their lives because of some macho idiot and his speed boat, yes alcohol was involved-imagine that.

Alot of people have no clue out there. I was in wyandotte (bishop park) sunday and a big offshore boat was flying by about 60mph about 25 ft from shore. Alot of people, even experienced boaters don't know the "no wake" rules on the Detroit River. Which change by city.

I thought you couldn't go over 55mph anywhere on the Detroit River.

You can't.  But who's ever been stopped or ticketed for it?  Probably very few.
