Title: Minn Kota Fortrexx won't lock in place
Post by: Hooksetter on July 21, 2014, 08:31:31 PM
I installed a 2 year old Fortrex on my BassCat Sunday. First time out today, it won't deploy correctly. It won't lock down. All the moving parts are lubed and move freely. I can stand on it and it won't lock down. It looks to me that the plastic nose piece is not allowing it to drop down far enough to lock in place. I don't see any way to adjust it and I don't see any interference anywhere else. Is there an adjustment I don't know about somewhere, other than removing the nose piece?

I have a tourny Wednesday night, first in 2 years, and I need to get this fixed.

Thanks for any and all help.

I just went out and looked at mine.  Try taking the front nose piece off and see if it will lock in place.  If it does... you found the issue and can at least go fishing Wednesday night (you can get by without the nose piece).   Figure it out later when you're not on a deadline.

I put a couple pictures here so you can see what it's supposed to look like.  The nose piece is perfectly flush with the aluminum main bracket up front... there is NO space under the plastic... between the plastic and the aluminum.

Thanks for the reply, I took the nose piece off but it did not help. I removed all the mounting bolts except one so I could swivel it around so I could fully deploy it. It looks like the piece that would slide into the notches up front to secure it will not travel far enough to do so. I can pry the other end farther but it will not move the locking piece, even though it looks like there is nothing preventing from moving farther.. I can't see any adjustment, so I will have to take it in. Anybody know of a Minn Kota authorized repair place near Fowlerville?
