Title: Navionics Chip
Post by: 32eml24 on July 17, 2014, 09:08:24 AM
If I were to buy a Navionics chip for my front fishfinder, could I plug it into another one in the future and use it on that one too or is it registered to a specific fishfinder?

Thanks!

They can be moved from unit to unit.  Or at least mine can be on my Humminbirds.

Well I did end up getting a Navionics HotMaps Premium chart card for my Humminbird 385ci DI.  It worked okay at first.  Now, sometimes it won't load the maps.  I go into the menu where I should be able to select auto/unimap/chart card.  Most of the time auto is the only option.  Sometimes if I pop the chart card out and then back in, it will allow me to select "chart card" on the menu.  It will say loading maps.  Then after a little bit it will say "selected chart card not found, switching back to auto."  Any ideas?  I want this 150 dollar chip to work or I'm out some money!  Seems like it'd almost be a problem with the finder itself.  Any help appreciated!!

Thanks,
Ethan

Might want to see how your chip works in somebody else's unit, then you'll know if it is a goofy chip or your unit doesn't support it

Are you turning off your unit before you turn off your master power to the boat? If I turn off my master power first sometimes I have to reload my map.

Under "Setup" in your menu, make sure you are on "Advanced" under "User Mode."  I have seen this make a difference on my 'Birds.
