Title: Detroit river / Erie July 11 BFL
Post by: Hollada on July 14, 2014, 10:46:28 AM
Fished the bfl out of Liz park as a co.  We decided not to run to colchester as we ran into big waves at the mouth of the river.   Fished the lower DR all day and never really found the fish.  I ended up with a small 4 fish bag on wacky worms and drop shots.

Heard lots of mixed reports on Erie.   Not sure how many ran to clair.

How did you guys do?

We ran down to Brest Bay/Stony Point area Saturday. Me and my Co were each able to scratch out a small limit. Drop Shot only, the only thing I could catch on tube were drum.

I'm an Indiana boy and was NOT ready for that ride Saturday morning. I was wondering what I got myself into. About a mile out I was considering turning around, but I didn't have anywhere to go in the River. My Co knew I wasn't comfortable with the ride, but I stuck it out and got down there.

Dan,

Just a observation, but seems to me that your boater may have made a couple of bad decisions on Saturday.  Seems if he didn't want to run to Colchester he should have ran to LSC that he knows...but again, just an observation....who is that bum anyway??

Heck, that's fishing.  We could have pulled a couple of decent bags out of the river as well.  Just couldn't find em.   I haven't heard any stories of guys running to st clair and doing well.  Heard a few opposite.  With the boat races that had to be a zoo up there.

St. Clair was no problem(wind or waves or the races). The winning boater fished there. My boater had 19lbs came in 6th. I had 16lb and could have easily had more.
